The Gumbo was hot, filled with andouille sausage and fresh shrimp, lots of okra and a southern biscuit. The tomato pie was also excellent.
Local. Local. Local. Jams and Jellies and sauces, South Carolina rice, local artwork, a café with homemade tomato pie to die for, and locally made furniture. This store feels more authentic than some of the others on Sea Island Parkway. It's more lowcountry and less Florida-esque. And the owners are so friendly and welcoming. Stop by and browse.
Just seeing this gorgeous city will make you never want to leave. It has historical landmarks, a National Cemetery, great little mom and pop restaurants everywhere, small boutiques on Lady's Island and St. Helena Island. Not to mention the Atlantic Ocean beaches are the best ever. A must-see for the whole family. Let's not forget Parris Island Marine Corps Hardcore Training Camp.
