I love this place. I grew up in the area and when we go home to visit our children and grands. We always want to go there.
Went here on business to survey the site and thought it was very nice. It was clean, well maintained and we felt safe. Even in February, people were camping, using the facilities and enjoying themselves.
my nephews birthday party was held there. The park was very clean and we had plenty of space and close to the bathrooms. The playground was close too. I will be having my grandson's birthday there in Nov.
camping and boating from South Cove is a great way to spend a day or a week.. lots of adventures for everyone, playground, tennis, boating, fishing, swimming and more. a BIG plus for us, it is close to town!
There is camping here, boat launches, picnic tables and grills, swimming areas. This is a nice park.
Nice camping sites for tents and campers..right on the Lake.. beautiful views of mountains and lake... lake is very clear... has swimming area and sandy beach.. tennis courts and boat docks....
We love Lake Keowee and we excited about getting RV space at the last minute for Memorial Day weekend. The spaces can be pretty unlevel so if you camping with a trailer/RV, make sure you have leveling blocks! Nice bathhouses that were pretty clean. If you want shade, make sure to stay on the left side (more shade trees plus a great view of the sunset). The rangers there were way to young and really didn't know how to deal with some of the folks. Had an issue with a bunch of not that young campers who drove their boats up on the small beach on our campground space at 2am and ran their props right into the mud (drunk I'm sure). It took up more than half our beach, which was the entire reason we rented that space. They were staying on the other side of the park so we were pretty annoyed. It did get pretty amusing later in the day when they enlisted the help of the rangers to try to get their boats out, maybe a half brain amount the entire lot of them ;-). I did finally talk to the one who said he was the one in charge about boaters pulling this kind of crap. So not a great first day there. We did some swimming but boy, it's so damn muddy out. You have to go out 30ft or so from shore to get out to clean water...feet and towels were stained orange, ugh.But the views are awesome...at the end is a point with no RV spaces, just an open park area that is beautiful. Loved walking the dogs out there early in the morning when the sun was coming up. And our space had great shade trees, perfect for hanging our hammock. We also loved walking at night, seeing all the different lights folks would hang up on their RV's. Everyone seemed to have dogs that week, so really enjoyed a very dog-friendly atmosphere...that week, anyways. So beautiful spot, great for kayaking canoeing. Not so great for swimming, but it was easy to boat out to one of the little islands that had sandy bottoms that were nice and clear. They definitely need an older ranger there to take charge, seemed just like a bunch of kids running things and not doing too great of a job.
