The Oak Hollow Mall has been purchased by the University of High Point. The plans for the mall are unclear at the moment but the majority of the stores have vacated (a few anchor stores are still present by making their exit plans).
When I first moved to High Point I was so excited to live in walking distance to an indoor mall. I was greatly dissappointed when I walked in an found that 90% of the stores are gone. However I found another use of the mall....it has A/C so when it too hot and humid to take a walk outside, I can just slip into the vacant mall and do some walking. Also when winter comes, it will be heated and safe to walk without slipping on ice. Rumors have it that the University bought the mall and was going to turn it into dorms/stadium or something. Now I think the University is trynig to sell it.
It is a terrible shame that this local mall has become virtually vacant. When the mall first opened it was wonderful to have a mall with larger stores without having to travel to Greensboro or Winston. It is in a safe area of town and convenient and easy to get to from most areas of town. Unfortunately the citizens of High Point did not support this mall and instead gave their business to surrounding cities, so, it made it impossible to survive. The mall is now a ghost town and is not worth a visit. It is pretty much now known for a movie theater and a Dillards clearance center. It will soon be a thing of the past.
This mall is dead. There are very few stores left in it and I am sure they will close soon too. Now it is just a huge parking lot for Furniture Market and High Point University.
