My husband and I love to go antiquing, so this is a nice little area to do so. They have about three big shops and a few smaller ones. If you're in the Durham/Chapel Hill, NC area, just drive about 5-10 minutes northwest on I-40 and take the Hillsborough exit, hang a right towards Hillsborough and when you get to the Wendy's, drive up the hill behind it to the shops. Looks like they have a few auction places, as well. Many of the buildings are closed or may only be open during the week (I've only been here on the weekend). Plan on spending about 3-4 hours looking through the shops, if you're an avid antique lover, and then you can head into the town of Hillsborough for more shopping and a nice lunch, or eat at one of the fast food places there. I'd love to know the history behind this little "village-type" area, as it looks like it used to be set up as a tourist area or maybe the area where the shops are used to be the main road???, complete with some small motels.

The pioneer-style village is right off the interstate so it's easy to get to. Just look for the giant man. There are shops for antiques, art and framing, home accessories, clothing, home improvement, real estate office, needlework shops, a restaurant, a working blacksmiths shop, building of antique vehicles, and a large convention center and much more. We visit the antique stores often.
