This was a true delight. Not many places offer this site to behold. Wonderful. It does not take much time either. You can just drive up, sit in your car, watch the horses for a minute, and then leave. It is perfect.

Cheap and quick breakfast at the Harness Track cannot be beat. Want a quick eggs and pancakes breakfast but don't want to pay resort prices? Come down to the Track! It's a little bit of a walk from the resort, but a pleasant one that takes you down the first hole of Number 1 down to the horse stables. It gives you a better sense for the history of this resort town, and the role that horses continue to play.

During season - Labor Day to Easter, training for trotters and pacers. Matinee race is a popular springtime event. Also, mile track nearby for training. Public welcome after 1 p.m. for walking, driving range. Dogs under control welcome. Center of track is meadow and wetland. Fair Barn is historic and beautifully restored for local events, weddings, etc. Track restaurant is great - frequented by owners, trainers, and locals. Good food and colorful owners and diners. Tack shop next door for leather repairs and purchases. Horse shows, Annie Oakley Days celebration, fairs, dog shows, local events especially in off season. House trailers and stables for seasonal trainers, stable hands, and harness horses. Resort owned track property and after 100 year lease expired, development was strong possibility. :Local group purchased, restored Fair Barn, protected tracks, housing, etc. and donated to the Village. Local heroes!.

First I got to say that the Harness racing is a must for everyone, you can go watch them practice most mornings. But the best thing is the TRACK RESTAURANT!!!!!!!! the food, service, and just the hustle and bustle is fabulous at this place! We take everyone there that comes to visit and they are blown away by the Track Restaurant! They have the best wait staff ever and the owners all always present. In fact one of them in the dishwasher. This building has a big history. The kitchen is the middle of the place and that is because when it was built desegregation was still in full force and the black had their own entrance from the whites, CRAZY! If you go make sure you go in the second eating area (u have to walk through the kitchen to get there) and see the wonderful original artwork in this side of the place!

Pinehurst historic harness training center is a winter and spring training center for high priced young standardbred yearlings in there quest to become future racing stars , see them train on a half mile clay and sand surface or on a separate mile track. They train Monday to Saturday from 6 am to 12 noon. Watch for the spring matinee day to see the "coming out party"of some of these young horses, great tailgate party also, it's usually on the first Sunday in April. At any other time make sure you have breakfast at the old track kitchen and try their famous blueberry pancakes after seeing the horses train.

My wife is a huge horse lover and we love stopping by the Harness Track for their special events or just the morning cart warm ups. It has a fun, peaceful atmosphere.

I have to agree with John and his comments on the restaurant, a great place to grab some good food at great prices. As Arnold would say, "I'll be back".

Small, white, concrete, noisy to loud. An exceptional piece of Americana right here in Pinehurst. If you don't eat breakfast at the track, you don't know what real breakfast can be - eggs your way, pancakes, sausage, scrapple, you name it - all with race track names. Great, great place for breakfast.

If harness racing is your thing, it's smoething to do besides golf in the area. Best breakfasts in town. Not fancy, but good food.

Eggs are always cooked to perfection. The problem is they advertise that they are open till 2 PM but tend to close when ever they want. So if you go past the lunch hour rush, be prepared to be disappointed.

When in Pinehurst, I always try to eat breakfast at least once at the Pinehurst Harness Track. The service is excellent, the eggs are always perfectly cooked and I enjoy the ambiance of eating at this historic place. Depending on what time of year you're there, you might be able to catch a glimpse of horses in training working their way around the track.
