I ride all over the world an often am forced to rent a bike. I would generally prefer to travel with my own but it's not always an option. The Hub provides a great quality rental for a good price. Knowledgable and eager to help staff is a bonus. Their online service is second to none for a rental shop and it allows you to chose the exact bike you will rent. Lots of options.
After a long day of hiking or mountain bike riding - this is THEE place to stop for a cold one!!!! They have a good selection of cold beers on tap, awesome selection of bikes and most anything you need for hiking. Stop in you won't be disappointed.
My girl and I were in Asheville this past weekend for a wedding and decided to sneak in some riding. The guides we were using, Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventures, told us that we would be taken care of when I informed them that I had made arrangements with the Hub for our rentals. These guys were terrific! My girl is petite and rides an xs 29er and although they don't have a bike in this size, they fit her on small 27.5" which did the trick. They put our pedals on for us and adjusted the suspension on both bikes according to our weight. Super friendly, really knowledgeable and their bikes are gnarly! We got back a bit late and they were super cool about it. They open the door, let us in and took our pedals off their bikes for us. Seriously folks, for $65 each we rode some sick machines and had a blast! We will be back to bike there and we will be renting our bikes from these these guys. I strongly recommend the Hub for all of you mountain biking needs.
If you’re visiting the Brevard, NC area to shoot the waterfalls at DuPont State Forest or Pisgah National Forest, you should stop by The Hub and Backcountry Outdoors. The Hub and Backcountry Outdoors is an outfitter and off-road bike shop with attitude . . . and a bar.Stop in to browse their large selection of gear, chat with other outdoor enthusiasts, and have a beer or two at the Pisgah Tavern, located inside The Hub. They keep six beers on tap at all times and also carry about six different beers in cans. The Hub and Backcountry Outdoors is also a great place to get maps and guidebooks for the local area, including Ranger District maps showing forest trails. For more information about visiting accessible waterfalls in the area, check out http://www.theagingphotographer.com/triple-falls-and-high-falls-nc-a-tale-of-two-waterfalls-part-2/
Yes they have great bikes and a lot of them. Yes they have beer on tap. If you forgot something at home you can find it there. But the internet has great bikes at a good price and there are a litany of great pubs in Brevard (Dales, Brevard Brewing Company). So why do folks go to a bike shop? Customer service, and this place has none. Their hipster pre-madona attitude of "its good because i say it is good" is played out. If some one comes to the cash register to pay for something, don't just stand there, say nothing, and do nothing. If a customer has questions about a part bike etc, don't condescending talk at them like a moron and then argue when the challenge the garbage coming out of your mouth. I keep trying to give them a shot. I love hanging out at our local shops and talking about riding, racing, parts, etc for hours. But i will not be giving them a shot any more. And i am betting when they read this they will take there hipster attitude and tell me its my fault for not liking it.
We were looking to rent some mountain bikes for a few hours. Not having much luck across the street we were happily surprised by the friendly and courteous staff promptly providing us with kid's and adult bikes and also rented us a bike rack, which they helped mount on my car. We came back shortly before closing and found out they have a bar as well. What a dream this bike place! Will come back again.
Bikes shops that serve fine craft beers are the whip. And this one is at the gateway to the best mountain biking in the world. Stop by after your ride or you may be tempted to have a few extras
