Great place for children and dogs enjoying the clear river and rocks with plenty of picnic areas and great walking paths
With a number of 6000 ft peaks and balds here in Pisgah Forest, there is plenty of great views and excellent trails to hike! Home of the famous Art Loeb Trail and Cold Mtn, Black Balsam Knob, this is a wonderful place to visit!
Great swimming hole with natural sliding rock that splashes into a cool pool. Great memories with the family playing here.
This is a very nice waterfall in the Pisgah National Forest. If you are heading west ,do not miss Sliding Rock. If you are going east stop by The Pisgah Fish Hatchery. If you have the time hike to the top of Looking Glass. Then go west past the falls to the Blue Ridge Parkway and then head north to the Pisgah Inn You will see Looking Glass Rock where you hike to the top of from a great restaurant that has a great view of Looking Glass.
I live here so I am a little bit prejudiced. The drive through the forest is so breathtaking. You can hit the Blueridge Parkway and drive all the way to Virginia. It is such an awe inspiring trip that will never be forgotten. Spring, summer and fall are the best months as you might find the Parkway closed in places in the winter. There are so many things to see and do. We never get tired of the scenery. We moved here from Texas and LOVE it!!
Lovely driving thru the forest and great hiking trails. Looking Glass Falls is spectacular. In the summer you can swim in the Sliding Rock area. Picnic areas and waterfalls.
Went to FR816 and went to top of Black Balsam and over to Ivestor Gap. Overnighted there and hiked the road out. Blueberries everywhere, best water I ever had on a trail, perfect weather and not a big crown, PERFECT!!!
All you need is a picnic hamper and some fishing gear to have a great day here. Left about mid-morning fishing license in hand and spent about two hours fishing the Davidson River. Caught some beautiful Rainbow Trout ( catch and release ) also some Brown Trout. Then driving around in the beautiful forest we found a great spot for a picnic and just took in more of the natural beauty. Quite an area.
We drove through the forest and fell in love. The scenery is beautiful, lots of places to stop and take pictures, have picnics and just take it all in. The history of it was great to learn, and we definitely fell in love with it.
Great scenery with river along much of the way. We did in light fog and still worth the drive.Might want to fill up with gas before starting out!!!
My husband and I hiked here on Thanksgiving Day. There was just a light dusting of snow and the temperature was in the thirties-perfect hiking weather. I must admit I did not read about the trail first and when I heard 'Pink' in the title I mistakenly assumed that this would be a 1-2 mile hike. It was five! However, it was not a difficult trail. I would label it easy to very slightly moderate. (This is only due to the rocks that are on the paths at times. This might hurt your feet if you are not wearing appropriate footgear.)This was a peaceful and beautiful walk with recently rebuilt creek crossing bridges. Very enjoyable!
Davidson River Campground, Brevard, NC is a wonderful facility conveniently located. Very clean and well maintained with potable water, trash facility, firewood delivery and washrooms with hot showers. Campsites have picnic tables, fire rings, water/lantern hangers and gravel tent sites. and although you are in Pisgah National Forest, if you've forgotten anything, Bi-Lo and Walmart are 5 minutes from the campground. Also Davidson River Outfitters is 5 minutes away. Many options for fly fisherman of all abilities. Hatchery supported water, DRO private water, and many wild fish streams including the challenging Davidson River.Blue Ridge Parkway offers breathtaking views just 15 minutes up the valley/mountain. Waterfall, sliding rock, hatchery and Cradle of Forestry are additional attractions.
My friend and I hiked up to John Rock, a steady climb with the reward of breathtaking views over the blue ridge mountains as a reward. Gorgeous colours, stunning place. A must for everyone who visits NC
its a good place to stop at it is so beautiful and kids love being there I highly recommend it So this coming summer I would get in the car and go swimming and see the beautiful forest
We were up in Pisgah in May and decided to return in October. This time we did the hikes by the ranger station and up past them a little. Really great area. HIghly recommend Mores Cove. Wonderful hike- bring a picnic and sit under rocks near small waterfall!
