wolf creek habitat and rescue

This was my 2nd visit to Wolf Creek and I had just as much fun as the first time! The wolves are just beautiful creatures. They were getting their winter coats this time and were just as loving and friendly as I remembered them being. The staff is knowledgeable and goes in the enclosure with you- you can tell these wolves are spoiled by how they interact with the staff! We brought them treats this time, having asked last time what they seemed to enjoy most. We settled on the hot dogs and went through a 30 pack in no time. We walked the bridge to toss the hot dogs into each enclosure and watched as the wolves leapt off the ground to catch the hot dogs mid-air, they loved them! I spent over 3 hours in the enclosure (again) and got to hug and pet every member of the pack in the enclosure we went in. One visitor even layed down and spooned with one of the wolves! :-) It rained right before we went in so we were a muddy mess in no time, but it was totally worth it. I hope to go back again soon! One note- the price of the wolves' food went up so to compensate it is now $30 to go in with them (used to be 20) but still completely worth the donation!

This was such a fun and amazing experience! I love animals and I'm alway trying to find new ways to learn and interact with them, this was the perfect place for that!! The people there are so kind and you can tell they really love what they do, they answered all my questions and told us about the different wolves. The gift shop was really cute with lots of homemade gifts, the best part was hearing the wolves howl. I'm definitely coming back here, I was told the wolves love the snow so that might be a good time to go!

This place was SO awesome. If you are a wolf lover, this place is a MUST GO! The people are very knowledgeable, and the interaction with the wolves is incredible. Guests are allowed into the enclosures to pet these animals who behave like large dogs. This was definitely something I will never forget. These rescued wolves are well cared for.

Worth a visit any day! Wolf Creek offers two ways to enjoy the animals: a free guided tour of the sanctuary OR a chance to meet the wolves up close for $30 per person (the second option is more fun)! The tour introduces you to all the wolves and allows you to observe them from elevated platforms. I was surprised by how curious they seemed to be....they were interacting with us from their pens. Before we paid for the wolf encounter, we asked about safety. You can tell from the tour they aren't "dogs"...they have a wild edge. The guide said wolves don't attack people unless people poke or provoke them. The key to having a safe encounter was to follow the staff members directions and let the wolves approach you. My son was just tall enough for the "wolf encounter" (about 54 inches) so he joined me in the enclosure. We saw 9 wolves up close...some were friendly, and other preferred to keep their distance. Make sure you bring close-toed shoes, a good attitude, and a change of clothes. We got pretty muddy when the wolves jumped up to say hello! I think the pictures say it all....If you're in the area stop by for a visit. My son said this is the coolest thing he's ever done...

Wolf Creek Habitat is the most awesome place ever! The staff is super friendly and the wolves just love to give kisses. You can view them from above for free (though I recommend making a donation b/c it's a great cause) and for $20 you can go into the enclosures and interact with the wolves. Yes, you can pet, hug, play, etc with the wolves! How cool is that??? I will definitely be back here again, even with the 8 hourr drive! TOTALLY worth it!!!!

This local wolf preserve is home to nearly 40 wolves. You may see the wolves for free or pay $20 to go in the enclosure with them. On a busy day about a dozen people go together in each group, so the wait time can be over an hour. Once in the enclosure we were free to pet the wolves, have them lick our hands and faces, and just watch their behavior. It was peaceful and enjoyable. There were 2 girls under 10 with us. They were a bit timid but had no problems. I would not enter with very young children as these are wild animals. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We'll be back!
