The roofless church was one of my highlights. The structure represents an inverted rose. We enjoyed this sacred place very much.
This peaceful place reminds one of many of the gardens of the orient. It is a great place to contemplate religious and philosophical ideas.
At the end of the walled open space was a large alter area which had an upside down rose-like roof over it.
Really interesting use of architecture to create a private, yet very open space for meditation, prayer, and reflection. There are a couple of spots within the brick walls that have trees and water to add to the ambiance. Rose petals were still shuffling around the sidewalks - a memory of a recent wedding, I'm sure. The Roofless Church is built for brides.
What a beautiful, peaceful place. It is so serene. The craftsmanship of the statues and fountain are amazing. If you are in New Harmony, this is a must. Look forward to bringing other family members to visit.
Loved being there without anyone else around, when the sky was clear. This is a beautiful structure, with other modern sculptures in the small bricked-in courtyard.
The Roofless Church, actually has a roof. A very uniquely shaped roof. The place is very peaceful. There are also several unique sculptures on display, on the grounds.
We didn't actually go to a church service here. We simply walked through the grounds, there was a wedding scheduled for later that afternoon so we didn't want to stay long. It is a very beautiful setting and I am sure it would be very uplifting to worship in this setting!!!
This is a very unique architecture. The whole place is peaceful and quiet, that it's easy to do some reflections and meditations.
A peaceful spot in a peaceful town. Go and sit. They want me to keep writing, but that's really it. Simple.
A must see if you are near New Harmony. Very peaceful and serene. We were there on a Monday and we were the only ones there.
With all the old trees surrounding this "church", the visit was very serene. I wish I would have researched it before I went, as I was clueless at the time of the visit.
When visiting New Harmony, this is a must stop and see and experience. The space is lovely and tranquil and of the Lipschitz Sculpture...well there is a smaller version positioned just outside the entrance to the Sistine Chapel! Utterly amazing!
Visited in the afternoon and again at night. The church structure has Many different moods depending upon the light, time of day etc. Great place for reflection. At night, we came upon a candle light engagement celebration.
Nice place to see. We walked there on a beautiful sunny day and thought it was neat. I wouldn't drive out of my way to see it but if you are in New Harmony you should stop by.
