Take the time to see these murals done by 2 local artists. These are historical depictions of the community members and the history of the area. It really is beneficial to take time to looks up the descriptions of these murals prior to or during your tour. What a marvelous way to convey the history of the city and the area! Impressed that 2 women have created so many beautiful murals as a tribute to their communities! Winter in Ashland is probably not the ideal time to visit these works of art - but we enjoyed them in the comfort of our car - don't miss the paintings within some of the local places of business.

We were not expecting this but it was well done and interesting. The detail is very good. You will want to explore the downtown area to see all the murals. There are brochures available with maps and locations. Pick a nice sunny day.

We stayed in Ashland for the Apple festival in Bayfield. We were told that the hand painted murals throughout the town was a must see! You have to even go down the alleys and see the hidden murals. I tool many pictures.....but.....it really is so much better in person. They tell a story of the area and the people. Don't just focus right downtown. Explore....and find new murals. It is part of the hunt and fun!!!!

Ashland is a really pretty place with a lovely lakeside walk and great places to sit and enjoy the beaches. It also has fascinating number of murals that are scattered throughout the town. Take an early morning stroll down the main street and keep looking up the side streets. The Black Cat Café is a great breakfast / coffee stop.

Great murals all over town and could do a nice walking tour. A lot of history depicted in the murals and takes you all around downtown. If you are a geocacher, there is one attached to the murals.

What a treasure for the town of Ashland to have these murals. It was delightful to walk the town to view these murals up-close and from afar (best viewing). We stopped at the down-town museum for a map (a nice time in itself) then started walking. These large murals in vibrant colors make Ashland history come alive. I hope they hold up for years to come, as they are an acclaim to the city.

Loved the mural walk. Take the time for a leisurely stroll down Main Street...well worth it! It starts and the corner of Hwy 2 & 13 and will have a mural every few blocks, a very easy walk

The mural walk is fantastic..just beautiful..We also found some great thrift stores and antique stores around town..just perfect!

It told a story of Ashland and Wisconsin through murals painted on a number of building walls within easy walking distance around Ashland downtown. There are printed guides and explainations of the murals available at most stores and hotels. Very well done paints and it makes an old, revitalizing downtown even more interesting.

...we were amazed by all the artwork--really good, and the town itself has lots to offer...nice trail by lake, too. plenty of coffeehouses...lovely.
