Lots of activities. Staff are varying levels of nice. The glass studio people are always crabby and unfriendly. I would like to do something in there but they are all unapproachable every time I go which is several times a summer. I keep trying but they all make it seem so hard and are never really ready for a tourist - I don't get it. The pottery, tshirt, jewelry, ceramic studios are all lovely.

My husband and I did a glass fusion project. I never had considered doing a glass cutting project before but the staff was extremely helpful and made good suggestions to help our projects turn out best. They made it easy. We were not pressured for time to complete our project. The projects we did were a little pricey but that is something that can be customized by the project that you pick. There was a large variety of project choices on the property. We will return again.

We have been here a couple of times and we absolutely love it. We usually stay for a long weekend but last time it was only overnight. We seriously only went to Hands On the whole time. They provide beautiful glass to create with & the brushed aluminum mounting is awesome not to mention the iron stands that are available! The last time we were there, Jenny was working in the glass fusing area. We all learned so much from her & she was so accommodating. At the end of the day we found out that she is the gallery artist. ..we felt so lucky!!

Words cannot describe what FUN my best girlfriend and I had this past Friday night at Hands ON!! I have never been to the Friday night adults only event. Awesome band BIG MOUTH TRIO!!! LOVE THEM!!! The owners and employees were so nice and helpful and were very engaging with everyone eventhough the place was PACKED!! Nice touch with the free pizza and you are allowed to bring your own adult beverages!! I cant wait to go back and the ceramics painting was very fun and stress reliving!!!

This is an awesome place to go with young and old. Many crafts to chose from and staff are very helpful.

I do agree with the comments about this being a somewhat pricey activity, especially if you have several family members who want to create their own projects. And, yes, you DO need to be aware that pretty much anything you make needs to have time to dry or set or whatever, so if you're in Door County for the weekend, plan on doing this early on in your stay, so you are able to go back the next day to pick it up. There IS a $7 per person "studio fee", no matter what you decide to create, plus you need to figure the cost of the piece you're working on (a word of warning, there are two prices on the back of all of the mosaic options - one is the cost of the piece, the other is the cost for tile and grout, so you do need to figure on both prices when you work out what your costs may be for the day). With all that being said, this happens to be one of my daughter's and my favorite places to go when we're in Door County - in fact, we planned a day trip recently, just to spend the day at Hands On, but we're "artsy" type people and had no problem spending the entire day there working on our projects. We each chose two different things to work on this time around, ceramic painting and a mosaic piece, so, yeah, we spent quite a bit of cash there that day, but to be honest, we would never have been able to create the pieces we did on our own without investing a whole lot more in just the supplies. We were pretty much left to our own devices, but we also knew what we were doing, and told the staff there we really didn't need a lot of help. The two employees working the mosaic area the afternoon we were there were very helpful to an elderly couple who came in to create a special anniversary piece for themselves, so I think if you make it clear you need some guidance, the staff will treat you accordingly. We love the atmosphere here! I love all the separate buildings and the projects you can take on (painting ceramics, spin art canvases or shirts, jewelry making, metal working.. ) there is something for everyone. I'm sure, during the slower times of the year, they probably have less staff on hand, so if you're thinking of something specific, maybe it wouldn't hurt to call ahead to be sure they have someone there who can help you with your project. We've been coming to Hands On for years and they keep making it better. Between our last visit and this most recent one, they've added a small snack bar in the main building so you can grab a water or soda and a slice of pizza or nachos, which is nice. The one thing we love, that hasn't changed, is the owners' cats wandering in and out of the various areas. Nothing better than spending a day creating something wonderful to take home and having a furry "critic" curled up by your feet or on your table while you're working! :o)Would we come back? YES! of course.. we just plan our trips here when we've got the extra money to spend.

It was a rainy day out so we went to hands on art studio. Great for families or couples like us. Perfect way to spend a yucky day on your anniversary. We decided to work in the metal shop. Not many places where they will teach you off the street how to weld! My husband and I were able to work together for half the day on a beautiful metal trellis, they provided instruction and then gave us our space and let us do our thing. It was great having a day to chill and do something artsy together. And now we have a gorgeous piece we made together in our front yard :D

We stopped by just to check it out and wound up coming back that evening for "adult's night" where it's only the grown ups that get to play! My wife really enjoys these sorts of places and her favorite thing about here was the wide variety of things to do. Metal working, glass fusing, ceramics and more! Definitely worth swinging by if it's your sort of thing.

Bring the little ones here to see the Art Silo. They have classes for impromptu visits. They have glass, metal, wood and textile classes for adults too. A great way to expose the kids to some hands on art.

It was a rainy day, so we came out no knowing much about it.We were quickly discouraged as the signage and looking around made it very clear that most things needed to be picked up the NEXT day late afternoon. We weren't staying in the area for another day, so we left.I SUGGEST, you call ahead to find out if your activity is a same-day or 2 day project!Otherwise, looks like it would be fun.

Hands on is truly a money maker, but it was fun and you get to take home your creation. There are a TON of options for everyone, from metal working to tshirts, to pottery, to glass. I am NOT creative, but I found the perfect project for me. Something for everyone and a great way to spend a chilly, or rainy day.

My friends and I came here to paint pottery. The whole place has a very cute setup and most of the workers are very friendly. My friends and I (all of us are 18) were not pleased how the girl with pink hair working in the pottery part was acting. You could tell she hated her life and job and did not want to be there. When we would go up to ask for more glaze her attitude was awful. We were almost afraid to go and ask for more by the way she was acting. We would ask a question and she would give us a quick short answer in an angry tone. The price for my pot was $14 but then they charge you an additional $7 on all projects which they call an artist fee. Be prepared to spend a decent amount here. Overall it was a good activity for a rainy day and a cute place.

This is an excellent place. I wish more of these existed. We had been there 8 years ago and returned to it this weekend. They have metal working, ceramics, glass and jewelry studios in a beautiful setting. It's a great place for all ages and everyone can find something to do. Great idea!

We stopped in to check out what it was about and spent the afternoon. The wife created a ring while I explored with the kids. I talked to the gentleman in the metal working area, he talked me out of a sundial, which after some research made good sense, not knowing the hour angles at my house. We settled into the glass art area and made glass mosaics with the kids. We stopped back the next day after they were fired. They turned out great. Can't wait to hang them in their windows.

We've enjoyed making fun projects here for several years. Staff is helpful and friendly. Selection of items to paint and decorate will vary from time to time.
