Great place to see a concert.Great sound which is the #1 when seeing a concert.Excellent sight lines,Good parking,great staff and facilities.Prices for drinks & food are high but they are at all concerts.

Tailgaiting here for Buffett is the best Staff is friendly, lots of room for everyone. Great place to see a show. The announcements on what you can bring into the theater were creeative and fun yet informative.

These folks do well to organize and manage such a large crowd of music lovers and party goers!We'll be back!

We saw The Dead Daisies, Def Leppard, and KISS here on August 15, 2014. My husband and I took our 17 year old son. We arrived around 5:30 (gates opened at 6:00pm) and were able to drive right in to the general parking area. Parking is free! unless you want to come really early (before 3pm for this show), or pay for preferred parking ($30 fee). We only had to walk about 200 yards to the entrance, so there's no way I'd pay for preferred parking. You could grill out/tailgate in the parking area ahead of time. We waited in line until the doors opened at 6pm, and then made a beeline to the front of the lawn seats (there are 7,000+ seats in the covered area, and another 30,000+ lawn seats-not reserved). We carried in low beach chairs--these are acceptable, but not regular height chairs, and set them up right in the front of the lawn seating area. It was perfect seats! Everyone stands for the concert, so we only used the seats for the hour before it started. But then we were able to stand and there was no one in front of us! The concert was a ton of fun--good size stage, lots of screens, great sound. We completely enjoyed ourselves! You can't carry in drinks, but we bought a souvenir cup of Coke for $8 with a free refill, so not bad. My son bought a concert tshirt-typical prices. We had been to Alpine Valley before, and knew that getting out afterward is very crowded and very slow, so we left before KISS did their encores. We still were able to listen to both encores as we walked out, but we jumped right into our car and got out before the mad rush to the one driveway out. It worked out perfectly!

Not many of these places left. Huge outdoor venue. Saw DMB in July. Good experience. It's great for tailgating. No Hassle getting in or out.

Worked there in the late 80's, when concerts were every weekend. Not so many concerts out there now, and of the ones they do have, I wouldn't spend money on.

Alpine Valley is an awesome place for wintertime skiing, and summertime music festivals, it is in a beautiful location just near from Elkhorn.

We saw Black Sabbath (not to mention Slayer, Godsmack, Primus, and Rob Zombie) at Ozzfest at this venue, which is very easy to get to from the highway. Didn't have a hassle with parking, in or out. The restrooms did work (mostly) at the time, and there was running water, which we used to refill our water bottles. The food was expensive, and not great, but not more expensive than other concert venues. And the pavilions are a little run down. Best part: Outdoor environment with really good sound.Worst parts: 1. Size. We didn't realize this was such a huge place. Although we didn't mind our grass seats (even for a day long event), the top of the lawn is really, really, really, really far from the stage. Buy a seat down front if you can, or get there very early. It was cool to see the crowd full of people in front of the stage, but the people on the stage were barely visible. If I wanted to watch what was happening at a concert on not so huge monitors the whole time, it's better simply to stay home and watch a concert on tv. Ah, the foibles of youth. 2. Restrooms. Overflowing toilets. Enough said. 3. Crowd. People got more disorderly/drunk as the day went on. Fights began breaking out. Watch your back on the hill. Also, make sure to take weather appropriate clothes/sun screen, especially if you go to a festival.Not a terrible place, but it helps to come prepared for what it really is.

Crowd control when leaving is awful and traffic is terrible. Sound system isn't very good and we were in seats.

Even though it is free parking there should be some people out there directing traffic when you leave the park, everyone just went any way they wanted and as a result it took over three hours to get out of the lot.Then in the park there is a hill ( no mountain ! ) you must get up just to get a drink and no stairs or railing just a big and very steep hill. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK EVER AGAIN.!!

Enjoyed a Jimmy Buffet concert at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. Loved the outdoor setting. We had purchased actual seats rather than just general seating on the lawn, and glad we did. We were close to the back of the seating area, but the jumbo screens allowed you to see the action up close. We also paid for the premier parking, and would do that again in a heartbeat. (close to the entrance and quick exit)Go early and tailgate. . . lots of fun! Parrotheads, land sharks and lots of Tiki huts, fun to see the ideas people come up with. Gates open at 3:00 or if earlier they charge you and early entrance fee. Jimmy's performance was excellent, would recommend if you get the chance. He usually comes back to this venue each year.

I agree with DonOlee it is a good venue to see JB but unless you are familiar with the parking lot, It can be confusing. When we arrive we parked at the entrance to the Yellow lot. Less than 5 minutes later than had everyone parking closer to the arena. We could not meet up with friends to tailgate as it was too far to carry everything. We actually got out of the parking lot sooner than our friends even though we stayed until the end and had a 20+ minute walk to the car. Concert area is much better than others though the hill can be quite steep in areas. Next time I would get the premium parking.

We went to see Jimmy Buffett here at the end of August. There *IS* no proper facilities and no running water or bathrooms. All porta-crappers. BEFORE the concert even started, they were overfilling and there was no toilet paper. This facility needs to be shut down until such time as they can cope with the high demand of the people that come there. Goodness knows they charge enough to park.. ($150 for an RV and $20 per car EARLY FEE) what good does that do when you go into a porta-crapper and have all sorts of fowlness overflowing the toilet?!? NONE.Inside the venue??? NOT ENOUGH TOILETS! AGAIN!! N A S T Y! The wait time to get into a gross overused toliet was +30 minutes!!!The concert itself was OK... Seating, OK... Beverage charges? Completely out of whack.We've seen Buffett 5 times this year, we will N E V E R go back to Alpine...

Another great Jimmy Buffett concert at the best venue in the Midwest. Always pay the extra for premier parking so you can get out easier and you will be closer to the gates. Live Nation seems to have gotten their act together and are organized unlike other years. The only problem is if you are a first time goer the lack of parking signs can certainly confuse you. Excellent place to tailgate and enjoy a concert. Fins Up!

If you are going to a concert you will ahve the same experience as it has not changed all that much-the balance of the place is in need of upgrades and also TLC.
