mecan river outfitters

Solitude and peaceful, beautiful chunk of land near the Mecan River. Property was very well kept and maintained. The only thing I disliked is that we could not stay longer!

Mt wife and I are in our 40's. The kids (ours & extended) are in their early 20's. They had a great time and so did we. They were sore at the end from the work involved and so were we!We did the 2 1/2 hour trip and it was harder than we anticipated. There are some sections where you need to go under fallen tree's and almost lay down in the canoe. There are some very hard sections where you are turning and turning and turning. If you steer like me this is rough. We had a lot of fun and worked hard for it!

My husband and I have used this outfitter several times for canoe trips down the Fox river. It is run by a family, and we found them to all be helpful and quite funny! We really enjoyed the scenic trips down the river. Its usually not busy and you have the river to yourselves. There are various distances you are able to choose from & they provide all the necessary gear. We were dropped off then picked up promptly down the river. We were always helped with loading/unloading canoes, so you don't do any of the lifting.Afterwards we like to go into the lodge for a drink. Like the other reviews, the lodge is really neat. Lots of taxidermy. Its all logs and I believe the owners built it themselves. There is a nice restaurant attached also. Definitely something worth doing if you are in the Green Lake area.

The rustic appearing restaurant is very modern with exposed log walls and plenty of wilderness decorations. Ample seating in the restaurant near a small bar. We have not used the lodge or the canoes, only the restaurant and found the food to be excellent and of great value. The seafood tasted very fresh. Service was prompt yet unobtrusive.
