The Wisconsin Veterans Museum does a wonderful job of honoring Wisconsin's veterans. The exhibits are carefully developed and display a range of Wisconsin history from Civil War to the present. Best part, the museum is completely free!
A very well-done museum that offers a history timeline of the Wisconsin veteran. The displays are extremely good, the staff is knowledgeable, and the facility is easy to navigate. Their special events are worth checking out.
Were at the Capital for a tour and we had some extra time so we stopped at the Veterans Museum. The kids were impressed and so was I. It does not take long to go through the Museum but worth stopping and learning more about our past. I was impressed on their displays, they look so real. They have a great gift shop, if you are looking for something for a veteran. I would say it will take you about 45 min. to 1 hour to go through this, that is if you read everything.
Really nicely done Museum. Not too large which was very nice. Displays were very skillfully presented. Even a full size Vietnam Helicopter and a periscope. No admission fee, but we gave a donation as it was such a pleasant experience.
Super neat museum tucked close to the capitol building. We were lucky and it was free that day, but I think it is reasonable to visit all the time- Awesome displays, artifacts and history of wars and military service. Great learning and good experience for family to learn and get a better understanding of what our service have done for us! Thanks!
Free will offering. Very complete exhibits of all wars with just enough reading to show they all related to Wisconsin, and yet short enough to keep a visitor's attention. I especially liked the dark, quiet atmosphere of the museum, which gave a quiet respect to the personal benefits and costs of war. Very well done. Nearby parking, very handicapped accessible.
Do not judge this museum by its size. There is a lot of fascinating things packed into this building. The museum itself is in a great location (directly across from the capital). The museum is also free! If you are in the area, I would suggest checking it out!
Very nice display of Wisconsin residents' participation in the wars from the Civil War till present. Nice gift shop. Compact so easy on the feet.
Now this is how all museums should be. Let's face it I have a short attention span. This free museum is perfect. You get historical exhibits and detailed explanations of all the major conflicts that the United States has been involved with domestic and foreign. Since this is in Madison after all, there is a healthy bias toward the service of the brave men and women from the great state of Wisconsin. I can honestly say the exhibits gave me a much clearer understanding of the events leading up to and involvement of the US military in WWI, WWII, the cold war, Korea, Vietnam, and the present war on terror.
Spanning all American wars with tons of memorabilia, this is a great little museum right in the middle of DT Madison. Very helpful staff. Great stuff for military historians and veterans, emphasis on the experience of Wisconsin's service men & women.
Superb museum despite its small size. Does justice covering wars representing most of our American history. Take a brief look inside, and you'll not emerge for hours!
This was an excellent veteran's museum from the civil war to present day. It had great displays, alot of artifacts, and stories to go along with everything. It did somewhat focus on Wisconsin's part, but anyone can enjoy this museum! I absolutely loved it and would go again if in Madison!
What a great, free museum on the capital square. The museum is great for someone that is interested in WI history, history of US wars and conflicts, and someone like me, who isn't! A lot of interesting facts about the culture of the times and the artifacts were neat to look at!
This is a wonderful, free museum covering the history of Wisconsin's involvement in wars from the civil war through the war on terror. I wish I had had more time to spend there, we found it near the end of the day. I encourage anyone interested in history to visit.
Like everything down on the Square in Madison, WI, this place is awesome. Especially if you are military oriented. Lots of interesting displays and history.
