Thank you for your thoughtful review. Given that you have a vacation home in the area, we look forward to seeing you at the winery in the future!
Thanks for your review. We are a small place - small, family-owned, farm winery. We have been looking for ways to expand our interior seating and appreciate your comments. Hope you will check back with us in the future!
Only my 2nd time but I'm all ready for my return trip! We visited for the Winemaker's Harvest Dinner and it was fabulous. The winery is absolutely beautiful, the dinner was delicious and the wine was flowing. All of the food was great, but my particular favorites were the pumpkin & cranberry goat cheese fritters, creamy yukon mashed potatoes and the local sticky bread pudding (and the wine). Love the winery, always a staple at the Split Rock Wine Festival. And I must mention the wonderful Carroll family, Steve and Sandy!!! Great job, thanks so much!!!
Thanks for taking the time to post your review of our vineyard and winery. We hope to see you again when you are in the area!
friendly lady at desk..no problem tasting whatever i wanted before settling on their Riesling. Best part are there grounds with large fish pond, benches, shade tree, great valley views all in there expansive backyard. Easy to tell its a labor of love for Mr. Carrol the owner ( who stopped his tractor and kindly introduced his dog Abigail to my 6 year old daughter). Just loved sitting there in the later afternoon sun ( arrive before 4 so have at least 1 hour to enjoy grounds before 5 pm close)
Beautiful view, Such nice and personable people. the woman pouring our wine for the free tasting was so knowledgable and kind. She was originally from England and is Cambridge educated and she didn't mind me asking her questions about her upbringing. She suggested certain wines and they were all delicious. We purchased cheese , crackers and a bottle of something we loved and had lunch up on the hill on a bench that they call the martini bench. Only reason this gets a 4 and not a 5 is because I wanted to do another tasting or even 2. They let you try 7 wines and I loved sitting there and trying to taste the wines. I told her I would pay whatever the fee was and really wanted to taste the wines. We could have done that for hours. She said something about the St of Pennsylvania not allowing that? I didn't want to go , I wanted to sit in that tasting room and pay whatever the fee was and keep tasting wine all day but couldn't. therefore the 4 and not the 5. We like to drink and the tasting was too quick, why not have the ability to pay for the flights after the initial free flight is over? Charge whatever they want. Very strange but we had a wonderful time.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We are very pleased that you had a nice tour and liked our wine. We do apologize that your tasting room experience was not all it should have been and assure you that we will take this matter up with our tasting room staff.
We were visiting State College and discovered this winery nearby. It's a lovely property and offers free tasting of seven different wines at no charge. We enjoyed the samples so much that we purchased 6 different types. Service was pleasant and helpful.
My husband always stop by this winery on out way to State College. This is a small Winery but the two ladies that run this are always so nice. Great wine too!
We went for a wine tasting during one of their wine and cheese events (Clover Creek Cellar). It was packed inside but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to find a spot at the tasting bar. You get to taste 7 wines for free, which is really nice. The pricing is reasonable, and it's easy to end up getting a case. If you join their case club, you save 15% on the case and get 2 Mt. Nittany Winery wine glasses (you can choose stemmed or stemless). My only complaint about their wine and cheese event: The cheese table was set up separately and you couldn't pair the cheese with the wine while you were tasting, which we thought was odd. It would be nice to see the wine tasting and the cheese tasting integrated, as we would have been more likely to purchase more cheese.
We only went to 2 wineries in the area and both were very good. Pricing was reasonable, selection was great. And the staff very knowledgeable.
Thanks so much for submitting your review. Hope you have fun at your special events and glad we were able to help!
Thanks for visiting and so glad you had a great time. Hope you'll come back soon!
I have had only positive experiences at the Mount Nittany Vineyard and Winery. Not only have I gone several times while my significant other was studying at Penn State, but I have also used it as a halfway point while meeting my friends from Pittsburgh and Scranton, PA. The owners and employees are kind and considerate. I recently called about an upcoming event in which 13 of my friends and I would be visiting the winery. They checked in with me prior to our visit, and checked in with us afterward to make sure that everyone in our party had a pleasant experience. I can't wait to go back!! (PS. If you get a chance, buy the Happy Valley Spice wine. It's like drinking Christmas in a glass.)
We are glad that you had a good experience and grateful that you shared it. We are proud of our knowledgeable staff! Hope to see you again soon at the winery. Linda
