We have been season subscribers at Steel River Playhouse for the last 3 years but I never took the time to write a review before. So, here goes. Every time we leave a show we comment how well done it was. The acting, singing, comedy, you name it, rival anything we have seen in Philadelphia. For instance, we saw Neil Simon's comedy 'Rumors ' last night and I don't think I have ever laughed more at any other play I have seen. Because Steel River is smaller than the Philadelphia theaters, every show is a more intimate experience. For instance, last night we had a chance to chat with Anna who is in charge of the props for the shows, very interesting. At the end of the evening we really appreciate that the theater is local and only a short drive home. Try a show. You won't be disappointed.
Went to see the opening night of Neil Simon’s Broadway hit RUMORS, this was my first time at the Steel River Playhouse, we will definitely be going back again. The show was very entertaining, great talent excellent venue, the cast and crew put on an excellent production. The facility is first class, very nice lobby with nice concession options, easy free parking.
I've seen many shows at the Steel River Playhouse over the last five years or so, most recently the Sound of Music. They do a variety of shows, but all the ones I attended were well done. The casting, acting, facility, music, seating - all the things that matter are as close to professional as you will get outside of Philadelphia or New York. Convenient, free parking is available across the street. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.steelriver.org
I have seen at least a half dozen plays at Steel River. I have never been disappointed. They offer classic shows like Music Man and modern plays like Shout (about music and women's lib) . The people are nice and helpful. The actors are great, some professional;some local talent. They now offer wine and excellent offerings during intermission. Make it a night and eat a local restaurant. Great culture right at your door.
We were most recently here to see the Music Man. Great talent and great venue. We have seen a couple plays here and have enjoyed them all. Great live theater in Pottstown.
Steel River has great variety in their plays, but there is more to offer here. They have classes, summer camps and offer music lessons. It's always clean, well kept and exciting.
Want to see some local theater without going into Philadelphia? Give Steel City a chance. This was our second visit to the theater. I am not a "show" person but I have enjoyed both shows that I have seen. The staff tries hard to make it an enjoyable evening and the building really gives that theater feel even though you are in Pottstown. All of the actors have also been very good and you get good value for your money. I am sure we will be going again so give them a try.
