One of the best golf courses in the area. Long [par 72] and interesting it is kept in really good condition. Good snack bar and very friendly pro shop it is really worth playing for the good golfer. Not as well known as some of the other courses but a real gem. The only drawback is that it is not encouraged to walk here but the layout with some longish distances from green to tee makes it sensible to ride.
The course is fun to play and not the hardest track around. Greens were ok and putted smoothly. It wasn't to crowded when we played and it took about 4 hours to complete our round.
On April 11, 2013 11:15am-3pm I golfed at Cumberland Golf Club ($15 green fee to walk 18 holes). For the red tees, course rating 70.8/slope 121. It is easy to walk the course (2 small hills) with a pull cart. It is a traditional course; quite open; with large greens; bordered by farm land, trees, a lot of yellow forsythia bushes; and has 2 tunnels under U.S. 11. Two pond come into play on four holes if you miss the fairways. There is a driving range, and bar/lounge in the nice clubhouse. I bought a hot dog and Pepsi ($4) between 9s. I had great fun working on my game early in the season here. While waiting on the slow men's foursome in carts in front of me, I played a couple of balls. The course is located 5 miles south of Carlisle on U.S. 11. 717 249 5538 www.cumberlandgc.com
