The rich history that this island possesses is quite amazing. I even ended up purchasing a book to learn even more :).

We stopped by while waiting for the Ferry and were pleasantly surprised to see all the historical items and info they have on display. The island has an amazingly rich history that is worth learning about!

Small museum presenting the island's heritage. A lot of genealogy of the island's long-time residents. Don't expect to see a printing press, I was told the actual printing press has never been found, Upstairs has some interesting items as well.

I have spent many a pleasant hour in this small museum. It houses records and photographs of the people who have called this island home...Indians, Mormons, the Irish, a king, fishermen, trappers, and farmers. It's all here folks! Plus a small bookstore offering selections related to the flora and fauna of the island...history...and song. Wonderful place!

This small museum ( 2 floors) has a very nice display (esp photos) of the history of Beaver Island, starting with King Strang and his Mormon followers, the Irish of the island, importance of musicians/music, logging, fishing and everything else related to this beautiful island. Free, donation accepted. They have a nice front porch to sit on. They often have a person there who has great knowledge of the history of the island and you can chat with them at length. Parking on street in front or side of building. It can get quite warm in there during the middle of the day. There are some books and souvenirs available for purchase. They also keep a good supply of books on the porch for anyone's perusing. These are not related to the museum. They are free to anyone who wants a new book, and it is nice if you replace one for taking one. On the porch, year round. :)
