This county waterpark has different areas to meet everyone's likes.... small children will love the splash area and big bucket.... the slides are great for older children and everyone loves the wave pool.
His place is a decent place to take the kids for a fun hot day. The only problem with this place is the workers don't really give a .... what anyone does which makes things not so enjoyable sometimes.
My mom-friends and I started off going once a summer, now we are at once a month. We have a great time. It can be relaxing when we share a parental responsibilities and can actual go buy snacks or use the rest room. Wave pool is good. Now that it is August, less of the childcare/ camp groups. August is a good month for the water park!
If you do not have time to zip away to a waterpark, this is a viable alternative. I would recommend getting there a few minutes before they open so you get a spot in the shade (if you are near the splash zone. The price drops after 4, so, it becomes very crowded. The lazy river is very cool as well. The wave pool and the waterslides are still there as well. You can also bring in coolers and outside food. I left to go get get some pizza and brought it back in. Oakland county residents receive a discount as well.
Get there early for your tickets because some hot days the line for tickets is up to an hour long before you can even get in. The lazy river if our favorite. The Splash Zone is great for babies, toddlers and the younger kids. It is separated from the rest of the park so little ones don't wander away. There are plenty of chairs under the shade canopies too. The wave pool is nice but hit or miss. It seems a lot of people who don't know how to swim go in the deep end. The waves get shut down often due to non swimmers panicking. I am not sure why someone who doesn't know how to swim would go in deep water? They have reduced evening prices for those arriving after 5pm. Red Oaks has grills, tents for rent, and a food counter. Lifeguards are all trained and the Oakland Co Sheriff is present too.
Nice smallish park, kept the kiddos entertained for hours. Lifeguards seemed very attentive. Can bring in food, which is nice.
Great location off I75 in Warren/Madison HeightsOff John Street on 13 Mile RoadFeatures - Three water slides, good sized wave pool, kids play zone with tipping bucket & lazy river - all attractions are cleanConcession has typical foods, nachos, burgers and hot dogsBetter option is to swing by Meijers(next door) and pickup picnic foods and enjoyClose to Oakland Shopping Mall (JCP, Macy's, Sears)
Great park for the family! Good location, next to Meijers, handy for picnic needs. A day of fun for all!
This has been around for many years. As outdoor waterparks go in Michigan, there are not many, this is ok. It is the basically the only place to go in Southeast Michigan. The problem is, you cannot compare it to Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City. That is the best.
We just had an amazing day with our friends. We arrived at 11am, a bit of a line, could use an extra person at the gate, but hardly puts a damper on the day. My friends and I have been taking our kids to the waterpark for the last two years and having a blast. We like to find a canopy and stake out the area for the day. This gives our kids a "home" location so it is easy for them to find us. We bought a bag of $4 charcoal and brought some hot dogs and had a great lunch. We also brought our own drinks and snacks.. I don't think anyone of us spent a penny at the snack place (so you can be very economical). We went from the kids area to the wave pool and back. Only one kid in our group used the slide, mostly because the other kids were too short or not interested. I think the highlight of the park is the lazy river! After reading the other reviews, I am surprised by the comparisons to the big water parks... This is a great county park and a great way to spend the day, I don't think this is a vacation destination, but if you were on vacation in Madison Heights I would say ENJOY!! You will have a great time!!
Once you have seen castaway bay, kalihari and splash mountain red oaks is just water! They need to add fun things to do while in the water. maybe some balls or floaties or some kind of toys.
Loved it. Clean, friendly, enjoyable. Lots of fun with the family. Family rates or season passes would be a great additions.
Not a lot to offer...a "big" slide," laxy river, wave pool and small play area. Can bring your own food which is nice!
