Very expensive to get in. Park was clean and well run. Gets a 3/5 because of the cost. Go durning the weed and its less busy
Lots to do. Well maintained. Scenic. Nice beaches. Great biking, jogging, roller blading trail. Beautiful golf course.
I live a couple of miles from this all around great nature park. It really has it all! Great walking trails, nature trails, fishing areas, golf course, swimming areas, animal/petting farm, nature center, and acres and acres of picnic grounds. Love to kayak their beautiful lakes. Worth the trip out to Milford.
The deer are everywhere, be careful if your on your motorcycle! The walking trails are great for a nice stroll or dog walking.
A large lake The beach and a small waterpark for the kids. The setting is beautiful trees all around. Five miles of bike and running trails. A regular golf course and a renowned frisbee golf course. On the east entrance of the park off of Milford Road there's a Dairy Queen and across the street a party store with a deli counter allowing you to grab anything for your trip into the park.
To the northwest of the city of Detroit, off of I-96 lies one of the areas hidden gems. Kensington Metropark. Within its boundaries, you can see deer, eagles, osprey, and many other small animals. You can rent a boat, play golf, go fishing, play at the beach, explore nature trails and enjoy the outdoors in all its glory year round. If you travel to the Detroit area and need a break, make the drive out to Milford just off of the freeway and spend a few hours in nature. A day pass is $8 and will get you into all of the parks in the vast system of green spaces. Don't forget to bring a camera.
This Metro Park is in Milford's backyard, and has an eight-mile loop around Kent Lake, which folks can bike, roller blade, run or walk. There are a multitude of picnic areas to choose from, with canoe, kayak and paddle boat rentals as well. Boat launches are available for those who like to sail, and pontoon boats are allowed as well. A splash and play waterpark will delight youngsters on hot summer days, and it's always fun to visit the farm in the spring to see the new baby animals. There are also nature trails that are off the beaten path, and in the winter, chickadees will eat out of your hands! The park offers golf in the summer and cross-country skiing on the golf course in the winter, with ski rentals available. A great destination any time of year!
We come to Milford during the month of July and part of December to be near our Son and the grandchildren. Each year we take our grandkids to the farm zoo which they enjoy. Maybe next year we'll try the lake swimming beach. The farm has nice restrooms but we haven't found the concession stand open?
This is the epitome of awesome State Parks. This park features everything to keep you active for a full day. There are lots of lakes, tons of birds, walking paths, both paved and unpaved. There is also a farm there which is a treat, and several play areas for the kids. There are kayak and canoe rentals, as well. It also features disc golf, a full golf course, and hills that are just right for cross country skiing and sledding. There are restrooms throughout the park that are clean and accessible. It's an all-season, family friendly park for sure.
Great waterpark. Large and beautiful lake. No private homes on the lake. A park employee told me it was voted the best Metro park In the U.S.. It has a disc golf course. Several picnic areas. Boat, canoe and kayak rentals. It also has a petting farm. Also, several areas to jog, bike or fish. And, let's not forget the beautiful golf course.
Kensington Metropark has a ton to offer for the entire family. A nice public 18 hole golf course, an award winning nationally known disk golf course, an 8 mile loop suitable for biking, running, or blading with challenging hills throughout. There are several beaches, one of which has a water slide and full waterpark for the kids. A multitude of lakes offer excellent fishing, as well as a marina to launch or store your boat for the season; although the entire main lake is a no-wake zone so there is no skiing or tubing. There are plenty of covered pavilions and picnic tables, making it the perfect picnic destination. There also toboggan and tubing hills and a cross-country skiing trail for wintertime fun.The new downtown Milford bike path also connects to the park, allowing you a safe and private path from the YMCA in Milford all the way to Island Lake State Park in Green Oak.There is also a petting zoo for the kids, as well as countless scenic overlooks and areas for viewing wildlife. The staff guides a nature walk as well. The park is impeccably maintained and constantly cleaned by the excellent staff. Kensington makes for a great summer destination for the entire family. And don't forget to drive through soon to experience the fall colors.
Love to ride my horse on the west trail, take kids to the Farm, go on a hayride, splash oark, bike and hiking trails, Nature Center, cross county skiing and sledding.
There's a lot to do at Kensington, my favorite is going on the 8+ mile trail around the lake. The trail makes for a great long walk or run if that's more your speed. I also enjoy coming here in the winter and renting cross country skis and going out on the golf course. There are bathrooms around the lake, so that's never a concern if you do embark on the walk around the lake. I've seen people renting swan/duck shaped paddle boats and also walked here one Saturday when they were hosting a SUP competition.
Great park with excellent bike and walking trails, paved or unpaved choices. Beach and picnic areas are wonderful and scenery is the best. We have picnics there, go walking, and take our kids to the beach. Just wish they kept more restroom areas open throughout the year for walkers!
Hiking,Biking, Tobogganing, Rental watercraft,Golf, Disc Golf, Picnicking, Lots of animals, Farm center. Great place to Hike around a small Lake (take bird food and stand still, you can get then to eat out of your hand), also have a large Lake (no high speed boating). Nice just to drive through ( very scenic).
