This park needs work and even they agree. They have signs up stating that they just received some funds to do much need repair work. The place is great in the fall when no one is there but in the summer it must be a gong show. The sites are right on top of one another and it's all R.V.s Not my cup of tea. But still, it has a lovely view of Lake Huron

We camped here two nights over the Labor Day weekend. The location was great and very pretty. Lots of tall trees, trails through the woods, clean beach. We visited the lighthouse (3 miles north) and biked into Rogers City (5 miles south). FYI the bikes for rental are all tandem. We would definitely go back here although maybe not on a holiday weekend. Some campers staying up late and not being very quiet. A campsite near the lake would have been preferable as the one we had wasn't very private. Otherwise it was great. The hosts were really helpful (and had the coffee going on Saturday and Sunday morning!) and the front office staff was very accommodating. Nice clean park.

We pulled in at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a strong, yearning desire to rest and relax. Registration upon entering the park went smooth and easy with overjoyed, friendly smiles and waves. As we entered the campground, we were a bit disappointed to see there wasn't much separation from neighboring sites. I picked site # 8 when registering on line so we could be close to the beach access. It was also very close to the entrance of the park, bathrooms, vault toilet and kids playground. We inquired about changing to a site with a little more privacy, but after driving through the park, we decided to stay where we were assigned. Much to our surprise, we ended up being delighted in our stay while adapting to our surroundings with ease. Neighbors were all very nice and private, as well. The location was great for all of our needs. They even have rental bikes (built for 2) if you don't have your own. The paved biking trails are absolutely gorgeous! A beautiful full view w/ access to Lake Huron all along the way. We went into Rogers City (a must see) very quaint, heartwarming, enjoyable town. Now it's back to camp for a cold brew and a walk to the beach 200 ft. away. The sunsets are so breathtaking, it will instantly drop you to your knees in thankfulness for God's astounding creation. Showers were very clean and I had plenty of water. I showered at 4:00 p.m. after my hike & bike ride, so it wasn't crowded at all. Garbage containers are spaced adequately to provide easy access for all campers. The trees on the camp sites are spread out in various locations to allow for shade, but thicker between the rows allowing for a privacy barrier. It's mostly dirt ground, it helps to take a rug to wipe your feet before entering your tent or camper. I highly recommend this camping park to everyone. If you have children, they will be so delighted in their stay, as there is so much to keep them busy. Sand castles at the water's edge were also a big hit. To sum it up; you haven't camped at one of Michigan's top ten till you camp here.

We arrived July 6 to avoid congestion. Our family of 6 had a really enjoyable 10 day experience in our pop up camper. If you are familiar with State Park camping this Park is a mark above.Restrooms - very clean, HOT showers, it's not a large park so they only have 2 showers on the side we stayed, not a problem when campground is 50% occupiedSites - spacious, lots of tall beautiful trees to offer shade, really big treesStaff - friendlyTrails - Usual Trailheads with appropriate signage and maps. Kept well, good hiking.Nearby Activities - limited but Rogers City does have a couple of restaurants and a Glen's Market for groceries. McDonalds is the only fast food place around - we did NOT eat here.BEST: The Beach is beautiful, accessible and has great swimming opportunity. We spent much more time at the beach at this park. Every day. Beach, beach, sand, sand and more sand.BIKES: Bring your bikes and kayaks!We had a great time and definitely would recommend this park.

This was a lovely state park. We enjoyed very much all the trees, and the easy beach access. There are wonderful paved bike/walking paths to take you into town, to a lighthouse, or just to enjoy a ride/walk. We did have a couple of areas on the path that we ran into a huge black fly problem, but not in the State Park at all.

We camped here in our fifth wheel for 4th of July weekend. Though many sites were closely packed together, our site #121 was spacious and private. The hiking and bike trails were great. The beach was beautiful! Though the water was cold, the kids still enjoyed playing on rafts, in the sand, and climbing the dunes! Amazing sunsets too!

A few years ago we drove past the entrance to Hoeft State park but didn't have time to swing in and check it out. I asked around and oddly no one had heard of it, kept asking if I meant Hoffmaster on Lake Michigan. Nope, Hoeft. Well what a lovely secret Hoeft State park is. We had a wonderful time there. Nice and clean, quiet family park. My kids could have cared less that the water was cold, they loved all the biking they could do, the swimming/sand and the playground (boys ages 8 and 10). The special treat of biking to a light house and a bakery, wasn't too bad either ;). We did go over the 4th of July holiday so the park was full but it wasn't a tight squeeze nor was it overly loud. We were told that it's only that full on the holidays and otherwise it's not very full. Well good for me, because we plan on going back many many times.

Traveled to a lot of parks and you never can get enough of parks that call you closer to nature. Birds of all types fly through the trees calling to you. You may see a deer, squirrels, possum, fox or bear. What a lovely way to experience nature in all it's glory. Walk the trails and discover the purity of the earth.

What a beautiful park. So much room to go hiking and swimming. The beaches are not croweded at all. Love all of the snowmobile trails that are open to bicycles in the summer. Best kept secret in northeast lower michigan.

I have been camping at this campground for about 9 years. Every year that I come here I don't want to leave. This is what a camp ground is supposed to be like. Lots of trees, beautiful beach and no big city distractions. There is so much to do swimming, biking and hiking if you get bored then you shouldn't camp. -Some places to try 3 Heart Bakery. It's right across from the campground entrance. Their brownies and cinnamon rolls are AMAZING! You will have to hike after you have one of those babies!-Light House Resturant has great pizza and cheese bread if you get sick of hot dogs-International Sports Bar and Grill has a great hamburger and awesome soup

Hoeft State Park is connected by an excellent bike path that will take you to the historic Forty Mile Point lighthouse and along the shore of Lake Huron and through a series of parks into downtown Rogers City.

The facilities might be old, but this state park is top-notch. The park itself is heavily wooded, but with wonderfully sandy beaches for Lake Huron. The camp sites themselves are spacious; the sites closest to the Lake have excellent lake "sounds", and can easily access the beach from most areas. Likely due to the relative remoteness of this park, there is not a "party" atmosphere that might be found at other locations; but, rather, a very recreational family-type atmosphere. Also, don't expect to have any reliable cell phone service...although that might not necessarily be a bad thing!!

Small (only 143 campsites), nice & quiet campground that is heavily wooded. Restrooms could use an upgrade, but I am there to camp, not hang out in the bathrooms/showers. the beach on Lake Huron is sandy with some rocks (as with most beaches on Lake Huron) and never busy. The sunrise over the lake is beautiful! Bring the bikes! there is a nice paved trail, about 5 miles, along the lake for walking or biking into Rogers City. Take the paved trail North out of the park and in about 2 miles you will be at the Forty Mile Point lighthouse which you can tour. there are also other nice trails inside the park, though they are not paved. We stayed @ campsite #35 which is very private & up on a hill with a lot of space.
