This is a beautiful fall in the winter as well. The road to the parking area is best accessed by snowmobile as the road is not maintained and we saw many vehicles almost get stuck. However, if you are on a sled, take trail 422 off do trail 8. While the walk is not incredibly long, it is a little challenging in the winter as the walking trail is packed down by foot traffic and wearing heavy winter clothing is a little cumbersome. However, everyone in our party agreed from 20 to 50 something that the hike was worth the effort.
you can get down in the trail and go closer to falls, it is nice feeling to get wet even in the 65 deg temperature.
Located north of H58 on H13, off on a dirt road. This waterfall is located at the end of a trail about six tenths of a mile from the parking lot. (And it really is only six tenths – the numbers alongside the trail are tenths of a kilometer). There is a lower viewing area - this is not for the people who have trouble with steps. There are 62 tall steps down to the lower viewing area. The 40 foot waterfall is impressive. After you see the falls, there is another place to go just a short distance up the road – Miners Castle.
The falls are bigger than they appear in the pictures. There is nothing to provide some scale. The falls empty into a deep gorge. We were getting wet from the viewing platform and it's not exactly close to the falls. The trail was beautiful this fall. Lots of colors and loads of mushrooms and fungus on the deadwood. I'd agree it's more than .6 miles one way.
Absolutely gorgeous, but a very long walk through the woods. The trail is wide and clear and easy, but long. I do not believe the claim that it's only .6 mi from the parking lot. I think it's more like 2.6. Still, all in all, worth the walk.
The path was a pleasant walk. It is not a short distance, but well worth it for the site. We enjoyed the entire place, and the parks service keeps the path well marked.
My boyfriend and I checked out Miners Falls/ Castle before we headed home and I'm sooo glad that we did. It was the best waterfall that we had checked out on our short trip. The trail to the falls is clear and wide, but there are some hills. It's breathtaking when you get there, but I just had to climb down to the bottom and it was even more breathtaking!! It's a steep hike but if you can handle it, it is worth it. Just be careful!
The waterfall was 0.6 miles away from the parking lot which was fine because we were there on a beautiful day. It wasn't a huge incline or decline either way. The falls were beautiful! The only downfall is that you don't get incredibly close but still close enough for some good pictures.
Plenty of benches along the way if you need to stop and relax along the walk. It's about a 1/2 mile from the parking lot.
We went here in the fall and the hike was very enjoyable. The weather was perfect and the colors couldn't be beat. The falls were very beautiful and definitely worth seeing. Out of all the waterfalls we visited, this was our favorite.
Visited in August 2013. Very pretty! Took many pictures of it. Would love to visit in the fall sometime to see the many colors.
Very easy hike a nice path. Lovely waterfall, we tried to hit the 13 falls around Munising and didn't quite make but we had fun trying. I'll rate them if they are listed........
It is just a short trip off the main road to Pictured Rocks to visit the falls. There is a decent sized parking lot with a space for a few Rvs , and bathrooms. The trail to the falls is easy to walk and there are 64 steps down to the falls viewing platform. The falls are a medium drop and very pretty.
It is worth the short walk to this beautiful falls. The gentle walk through the woods is a treat in itself. The upper viewing platform is easily accessible. The lower platform involves going down and then back up many, many stairs!! The view from this platform is spectacular.
Miners Falls is well worth a stop when you are in Munising. The falls are beautiful, so bring your camera. They are reached via a hike along a gravel path, with a modest elevation change. There are two viewing platforms, with the lower one offering the best view. Added bonus...it's free!
