Lots and lots of walking, so wear good shoes....but the stories & history behind the various graves is pretty cool.

I love to walk and jog there. Its peaceful and beautiful. Nelly Keyhoe is burried there! She is the wife of the Bath school bomber in 1927. He tied her to a wagon and set her body on fire before he went to the school that sad and fateful day. The name on her stone is Ellen Price.

Sadly, my grandfather died in the 1918 flu epidemic. He was only 29 years old. I am the last family member left to decorate his grave. The cemetery looks very nice, whenever I go. It also is interesting to read the old markers.

Lot's of dead people here. Headstone, dead guy. Headstone, dead guy. It is well maintained but gets old fast. Actually, I think it is odd to have the cemetery listed under "Attractions". I actually have relatives buried here. Odd???

Lots of history buried here. If you can get your hands on one of the historical walking tour pamphlets, you'll be able to navigate through the sections A-Z. It it well laid out, small enough to see all of the famous burial sites of Lansing's leadership. Best to visit in the Spring or Summer, when sites are "flowered" or flags are flying.

Mt. Hope Cemetery, has historic monuments and markers. From the famous to the infamous. REO Mausoleum, JW Knapp, Pattengill, Turner - Dodge. Judge Cahill & Ostrander. Luther Baker, who is one of guys who captured John Wilkes Booth, the assasin of Abe Lincoln. The cemetery offers rolling hills and fauna. It's a great place to take your family and stroll through the history of Lansing. Visit the new Charles Fratcher Memorial Garden, It's really a tribute to a wonderful and generous benefactor of Mt. Hope Cemetery. I also belong to a group called Friends of Lansing's Historic Cemeteries. Our group was founded to Protect, Promote and Prosper the City Cemeteries, we work with the City of Lansing to make this happen.

A cemetery with many of the people who helped to make the city of Lansing (Lansing is the capital city of the State of Michigan). Amoung the graves is General John A. Logan and Ransom E. Olds (Oldsmobile automobiles).
