If you've ever read the little book about Jim The Wonder Dog, this place shows how he was loved and still is today. The water garden with coy, plantings, and gazebo create a nice place to walk and read about the life of Jim on plaques placed around the path.

This is my third visit. I came here many years ago to visit family. Then I returned with my brother and shared this memorial with him. Now I am here again with my sister and niece and sharing the wonder of Jim. I would probably not go out of my way to see this but if you are in Marshall I would definitely check it out.

In Marshall in the down town square area lies a memorial garden for Jim the wonder dog. It was a beautiful garden where you could stroll through and learn about Jims life. Jime died about 100 years ago and the idea of the attraction was just weird.

What a nice quaint garden! Very well kept and beautiful. I wish I could have seen Jim in real life. What an amazing animal!

Local folks got together to put their most famous resident (4-footed through he was) on the map. We've know folks who authenticated this almost-human canine's feats in the 1930s, and are glad he's finally getting his due recognition, with a park of his own. The town has even adopted the slogan, "Smart dog, Nice people." Check it out. Free!

Small-town America at its finest! A pleasant little park on the square with a great story behind it.

Don't miss this slightly-out-of-the-way attraction. It will probably take you just an hour to get off the interstate, drive to Marshall, visit the garden, and be back on the highway - definitely worth the side trip. We'd never heard of Jim the Wonder Dog until I was looking for short side trips to take on our way from St. Louis to Kansas City. What an amazing dog! We're not talking about the usual doggie tricks here. This dog could pick out someone's car from a full lot after being shown the license plate number. He could predict the winner of horse races. He could even follow directions given in any foreign language! The garden itself is nice, with water features and a gazebo, but the main draw is the statue of Jim and several plaques around the garden telling Jim's story. I'm telling you that you don't want to miss this attraction.

Ordinarily I would rate the garden and museum Marshall and Saline County history Excellent, but in the interest of full disclosure: I was born and raised in Marshall, so I am primed to gush with praise. But the day I visited after not having visited town in some years, the garden was lovely and the folks running the museum were friendly and knowlegeable. Several of them recalled Jim the Wonder Dog from their childhood and recounted first-hand experiences. They have donated artifacts from a number of prominent families and lovely craft and native american pieces. While you are traveling through you should stop in and visit a spell!
