I really should have reviewed this a lot sooner. My family and I stopped here on the way between St. Louis and Kansas City. It’s enough on the way that you need to stop here. I heard about it by searching the web for cool factory tours. Sierra Bullets is a non-descript, working, hands-on factory. We simply walked into the front office and asked for a tour. “Sure!” Our tour guide was a veteran employee, literally. He has been there for many, many years and he’s also a former US Marine. On the tour, we had to wear safety goggles, which I wasn’t sure if my then 18 month old would be down. Yes, they let her go on the tour and she was actually fascinated. The facility is just neat. We saw how they made the bullets and everything was running at the time. You just walk right up to where employees are working and they were okay with three random people staring at them and their work. It was so fun and such a one-of-a-kind experience. Although we weren’t allowed to take photos in the place, we were able to keep a lot of “bullets” in the various stages of creation. (None live.) Side note: even if you’re not all that into guns and such, this is still incredibly interesting.
