My husband and I took our dog here today for a chance to enjoy the fall weather and colors. We chose the Lake Loop trail, 3 miles altogether. The trail was quite narrow at some points and rocky, and you had to wade a bit at the inlets. However, all that pales in comparison to the fun and easy hike and the great scenery. I'd recommend the park to anybody.

Great place to camp, swim, fish, canoe or kayak and hiking. Saw a lot of deer. Be sure and register on line with Missouri State Parks for camping sites. If you like peace and quiet go during the week. If you like a crowd go during the weekend. Also saw a lot of different birds. They have camping for RV's, pop ups and tents. Water is turned off November 1st. They have pit toilets by the tent camping area or regular toilets in the shower house up the road.

We hiked the 7.5 mile red loop in early July and although there were some nice parts, most of the trail was muddy and seriously littered with horse poop. Of course some of that is to be expected since it's a biking/equestrian trail, but come on, droppings EVERY 5 steps for the entire 7.5 miles? We'll go elsewhere next time.On the bright side, the staff at the visitor's center were nice, and the stone shelter seemed to have ok facilities including a playground and sheltered picnic tables.

Our goal was to go kayaking in a lovely and peaceful place and Lincoln Lake at Cuivre River State Park fit the bill. It's a clean lake, with little traffic as gas motors are not allowed. Saw one man took home four nice sized catfish. Picnic areas are lovely and abundant. There is even a small, crystal clear stream to play in. The boat ramp is great and well maintained. The beach....could be really nice as it is a very large area for a fairly small lake. The problems are 1-not enough sand in the lake, only goes out about half way to the barrier, so this makes the swimming area very murky and unpleasant, 2-people are loud, trashy talking and non-rule following. Rules not followed, blatantly, were glass bottles, alcohol and pets. For goodness sake if you are going to drink put it in a non-descript, non-glass container and please no one wants to walk barefoot where your dog is romping around and no one wants to listen to your trashy mouth. So, if you stay away from the beach you will love this park!

The rest rooms in the RV park are checked each day but the only thing done is the toilet paper changed and the floor swept. Sinks and toilets are not cleaned. The lawn has not been mowed in a long time. Dandalines have turned from flower top to seed tops.you can,t rely on the camp host being at the kiosh. They have a sign up saying if you need something go to there camp site. I believe that manage is reallypoor or non existing.wake up and clean up!

If you are looking for a campground to go and have fun dont go to cuiver they are so strict it was almost like all we could do was sit there in silents it was ridiculous. quiet hours are 10 to 6 and we turned our radio way down it was super quiet and they cam by at 10:03 and yelled at us for being too loud, we could barely even hear it. It would be a good camp ground for old retired people but it is definitely not young person approved. The camp site in general was very nice, clean and level which is good for tent camping. Indoor bathroom and showers were for the most part clean.

We camped here for two nights in August. I have nothing bad to say, except that it took for ever to get from the main highway to the campground, with a couple tight turns followed by hills along the way. The sites were level and the place was clean, but there was nothing really special about the park. Just your average state park with trees and a lake.

I have been here multiple times and it is just okay. I have been to plenty of other state parks that are worth going to. There is the river and the dirty Lake Lincoln. The fishing is usually terrible. Or I'm just impatient. This may be the place for some people, but its nothing special to me.

A very clean and well operated campground by the Missouri IDNR. They are well staffed, friendly, and work towards a balance of camping experiences by people while maintaining habitat in their natural state. IDNR state sites are ones you can feel safe & relaxed in.

We have hiked and mountain biked both at Cuivre River State Park. The trails east of route KK are only open to hikers and are a great places to take a hike. There's a out and back trail off the loop that goes back to a small lake. The main loop is about 4 miles long and takes you across creeks two times and past one spring that has always been running when we have been there. Frenchman's Bluff is a nice short hike and is a very nice view, but if your not into the walk you can drive up the gravel road and see it.

Beautiful and quiet. Loved the view and great fishing too. The drive was awesome; very wooded with just enough light. You wouldn't expect it in Missouri!!

I loved Cuivre River State Park. The horse trails are really nice. There's a small overnight horse camp so you have to get there early to get a spot. There is a day camp if you just want to haul in and ride for the day.

I like to just drive around nature and watch things. The trees were starting to change and that helped a bunch. It looked like they have a nice area to get your horse saddled up and go on the trails.

It is not a place that is fancy. The Cuivre River is also a river that contains a lot of mud, similar to the Missouri River. They do have picnic areas there. There is a Girl Scout Camp there that my three daughters camped at each year. They always enjoyed the camp.

If you have a big boat for a big lake or a gigantic camper and you hate narrow hilly, windy roads, even paved ones, you'll have to pass on this great park. Everyone else can skip the long drive to Mark Twain or Lake of the Ozarks, etc. and go to a perfect little getaway just an hour NW of the St Louis suburbs. The park has three public camping areas as well as some special purpose areas. The three areas are (1) a campground with limited foliage and all of the nice hookups for RV's, (2) a large wooded campground suitable for everything from small tents to RV's and (3) a campground for horse camping. We are tent campers so we use #2.Call and make a reservation, especially before holiday weekends. The whole place can be empty and then poof, filled with campers.ONLY ANNOYANCE: Bring MONEY and be sure to BUY wood at the prescribed time (yes, really). You can NOT bring in and use your own wood. They're trying to protect the park from insect infestations (and probably make some money). The wood isn't cheap. If you want a camp fire, bring money, ask about when wood is available, and buy some. The wooded campground has one entrance but splits out into three sections near the bathhouse. Bathrooms and showers are good, cleaned regularly and well kept. ONLY OTHER ANNOYANCE: There are out houses in the rustic areas near the far end of the sections and they get very little attention--but we like rustic areas. We walk to the real bathrooms most of the time, but we make sure the biffy is acceptable for mid-night emergencies. We bring bug killer, disinfectant, wipes and a broom and attack it when we first setup. Yeah, I know. You should not have to do what the park staff should be doing but life is life. If I could give a rating of 4-1/2 instead of 5 I would do it for this one reason. There are a few playgrounds in the park including a great one at the entrance of the wooded campground. We've been to the park a number of times over the years and our kids have enjoyed playing tag there. Across the way is a small outdoor theater area. The staff put on nature exhibits and talks there. Avoid the temptation to skip them. Just go. You'll be glad you did. It's comforting to see park staff making rounds and even an occasional police car. The staff is responsive if you have an issue. They are zealous in protecting visitors so don't blast music at 7:01 am, just because the rules say that quiet time is over. A large contingency with multiple tents found that out the hard way.The park has a very nice lake that is great for fishing and swimming. The ramp is high quality. You can enjoy the lake with anything from a kayak to a smaller speedboat. A swim beach consumes one finger of the lake. The beach at the end of the finger and the bottom of the swimming area are sand but it gets more gravel as you walk deeper. the entire swim area is separated from the navigable section by a long floating tube. The bottom can be muddy along the left and right banks. Kids can like that but not the grown ups. So don't enter/exit from the sides or bring water shoes. The beach is plenty deep and wide and great for sun bathing or sand castles. A wide variety of people come to the park so you don't have to be a bronze god/goddess there. There is a grassy hill on the right side of the swimming area and people tend to setup blankets and lawn chairs there. Trees there shade the afternoon sun. You'll find changing rooms but no shower facility there. You can't bring food beyond a certain point at the beach but here are shaded picnic grounds are all over the park. The tables aren't always pristine (hey, you're out in nature) so bring a tablecloth and relax. The park has lots of trails for hiking and also some for horses. If you're a hiker, avoid the hiking paths near the creeks after a recent rain as they will be frustratingly muddy. There are some trails that follow higher elevations and a great lookout spot. For some reason people like to climb into one of the creeks that feeds the river to frolic. I don't get it when a nice beach is nearby but whatever. The little city of Troy is nearby and has anything you'd need to pickup as well as a theater if you have someone in your party that can't survive nature without an occasional movie fix. (They have a great carry out Chinese place too!)All in all, this park is a great and convenient place for a day or a week and has everything you need.
