I love browsing in Diane's. They always have a great selection of all genres. There is so much more inside than you can imagine from looking at the outside. The staff is very helpful.

Diane's is a throwback to the days when we shopped in our neighborhoods for basic staples such as food, books, hardware, stationery, clothing, and developed relationships with the owners of these shops. It is now a rarity to find such proprietorships where you can walk in the door and engage in a conversation about the last item purchased, where your name and preferences are not relegated to an email database..While I confess to hitting up Amazon for a hard-to-find book or something I need shipped, I look forward to those times when I can stop into Diane's and browse, or even better - chat about books with Diane herself. (She is available on the phone when not in the store!)Over time the shop has come to resemble the wand shop in the Harry Potter movies - stacked and crammed with an impressive array of books - but rest assured that the staff is extremely knowledgable and enthusiastic. Tucked away on a side street towards the bottom of Greenwich Avenue, Diane's is worth a visit on a stroll down the avenue, either before or after a lunch at one of the great local eatinig spots.

Diane's Books is the best. You want advice about the best read, the best children's books, just ask the knowledgeable people who work there! A favorite destination of everyone who lives in Greenwich. Great gift ideas, too. Oh, did I mention that they wrap? I love Diane's Books!

The staff are avid readers and can usually give helpful advise about book choices. Their shelves are packed and if they don't have what you want they can find you something to fill in while you wait a day for the book to be delivered to the store.Altogether a good experience - and a treat to have an independent book store in the town.

My family and I have been going to Diane's (yes, this really is independently owned by a real person named Diane) for more than twenty years. She and her wonderful staff have shaped, nurtured, and supplied our extremely diverse reading tastes and needs (three generations from pre-teen to near ninety with interests ranging from history to poetry to mysteries to science fiction). We always get personal service, but are never pressured to buy. This is one terrific place for getting yourself and your kids stimulated to read and think about the world.
