While one of a vanishing breed of small local bookstores, the Breakwater seems to flourish in the New England setting. While it appears small from the outside of its location on the Guilford town square, it has an expansive array of interesting titles on subjects ranging from childrens' books to unusual historical and technical reads. A visitor to this bookshop can find he or she is still browsing books well after an hour has passed. Although we have two large box book stores in our area (and we also use Amazon), we still find ourselves leaving this store with at least one or two intriguing books and a number of unique greeting cards.
