This is one of the most beautiful parks in the world - and it's in the town where we live! It's a great place to hike, to have a picnic, to bring the dogs .... The hiking trails lead down to the reservoir, which is drop dead gorgeous - especially in the fall.

Great place to take little kids for a fun afternoon. Park-like setting with a small number of animals to entertain the kids. Ample covered spaces for larger family/corporate gatherings. Nice hiking trails.

Back in the 1970's, the governing fathers of Windsor had the foresight to set aside this parcel of land as a municipal park. The park offers a multitude of things to do such as hiking on 10 clearly marked trails, exhibits such as organic gardening. The volunteer organization known as "The Friends of Northwest Park" has overseen the development of the park as well as working on an annual basis to improve the park as well as raise funds to sustain events. The park typically hosts a country fair in late September. There is a working maple syrup building. Syrup made at the park is used each March during the annual pancake breakfast. Also, from November to May, there is a live music concert series. Proceeds from these concerts are used to provide transportation costs to bring school children tot he park for educational field trips. More information can be found on the park's website.

we hike there at least once a month - grandkids love the animals in the barn - feels like you're not in Windsor but out in the woods.Good hike is the trail to overlook Rainbow dam.

This park is off of Prospect Hill Road at the end of a residential lane. Very nice walking paths, a pond, some nature exhibits and community gardens-- you can easily do a one mile walk on the paths. Great for an evening stroll or for exercise. Events are held there on occasion.

There are many short walking trail throughout the park. It is very family friendly. There is a very nice nature center. The trails are not long and not challenging but get everyone moving.

One of my favorite places to get lost in the woods. Great place, wonderful facilities. Good place for families, picnics, hikes, overall a wonderful place.

NW Park HSS almost 500 acres of well kept wooded hiking trails, a nature center, sugar shack, coffee house series in the winter, farm animals and a dog park which finally recently was filled with a new mulch ground cover. And don't forget the soccer fields, playground, turtle pond and picnic pavilion, organic teaching garden, community gardens...the list goes on. This is a gemstone of a local outdoor haven in the corner of one of the most historic towns in CT. I've always felt safe here. The staff is welcoming and responds to any/all concerns and patrols the trails. It is well frequented by hikers, runners, x-country skiers and snowshoers.Join in!

Wonderful place to go and get in touch with nature. Lots of open spaces and wildlife. Great nature center where kids can learn a lot.

We have never been here before, never even heard of this park. But its such a neat little park. First thing we saw was a pond with gold fish & turtles. There's a nice nature center & gift shop. The tobacco museum wasn't open unfortunately. There were horses & sheep outside & inside the barn more sheep, a donkey, turkey, chickens & rabbits. There was a flower garden that looked neglected & there's also hiking trails that we didn't try. Best of all, it's FREE

I love taking my dog walking here. There are ton's of trails everywhere that are well marked. It is very well kept and there are farm animals to see as well. One day I saw baby lambs just 2 weeks old. Too cute!!! There are gardens and places for kids to play and they have a duck pond. Just a great place to enjoy the outdoors.

So much fun, hiking, museum, animals, play ground and cross country skiing in winter. Love this place.

This near 500 acres of parkland in NW Windsor offers extensive hiking trails (easy to moderate wooded terrains), also exposed walking paths, the beauty of many historic New England tobacco barns on site, the Nature Center, a petting zoo, sugar shack, sports fields, covered picnic areas, playground...need I go on? Parking is easy; the park is accessed at the end of the road through a suburban neighborhood. In the winter, one of the sheds offers cross country (xc) skies for rent, although bringing your own is always welcome. The park is wonderful for both xc skiers and snowshoers in the winter. Also in the winter months, the Friends of NW Park offer coffee house concerts in the back of the nature center just about every other Saturday evening. The bistro tables and great new acoustics make for a nice evening as the Friends also provide snacks and tea, coffee during the shows. The only sad downfall is the dog park...it was built, the fencing installed, improper ground cover was laid and without further workmanship and no cover to offer relief from the midsummer sun, it's left to become somewhat overgrown and underused. A town effort to revitalize this part of the park would move this first rate quality park up to a stellar rating! The park itself welcomes dogs on leash, yet having a friendly dog park would complete this destination.

A walk in the park is on my daily must do list. It's a restorative experience, to say the least. Also the restrooms are convenient. There are miles and miles of trails. Take a trail map with you if you get out of sight of the tobacco sheds.
