I found Indian Summer Guide Service on Facebook and had been following them for some time. I finally had an opportunity to book a ride and invited my son and his friend along for the fun! I requested information via Facebook message and received an information sheet - now here was the hardest part - choosing which ride to take! I'm sure all of them are wonderful but I finally selected the ride at Veritas Vineyard and Winery. With only a few more Facebook messages, arrangements for our adventure were easily made.Ashton, our guide, brought some of his wonderful horses and we enjoyed a peaceful ride through the winery - as it was December we had the grounds to ourselves - the views were spectacular. Throughout the ride, Ashton shared information about the winery and the area. The horses were well trained and enjoyable to ride (but not mindless as some trail horses are). Also, one of the members of our group did not have riding experience and she enjoyed the ride - so it is beginner friendly. Also, Ashton took a bunch of photos for us so we could remember our experience.After the ride we enjoyed wine tasting - which was included in the cost of our ride - the staff member at Veritas was very patient, friendly and informative. I am not a wine drinker so this was my first experience with wine tasting. We got to keep our wine tasting glass - a nice souvenir to remember the day.I would highly recommend joining Indian Summer Guide Service for a private tour. It was an experience I will treasure. We rode with Ashton whilst staying with friends at Veritas Winery. He is wonderfully patient, knowledgable and utterly charming. He obviously cares greatly about his horses and their well being, as well as looking after the best interests of his clients. Very strongly recommended.

I booked this horseback tour as a belated anniversary gift for my wonderful wife. We rode the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Veritas Vineyard. The booking was through e-mail and phone tag, but went flawlessly. On the morning of the ride, it was a brisk 34 degrees out, but we were excited for the trip. About two hours before the ride, we received a call from Mary who informed me that their 12 pm had canceled and did we want to push back to let it warm up some. We were already up, fed and ready to go so we stuck with our 10 a.m. start. We loved every second of the ride. The horses were so gentle and easy for us to ride. Ashton and Mary were so nice and personable, it was great to talk and learn about the area, the nature around us and so much more. Veritas was a great place to do the ride, the views were spectacular! The cold weather didn't matter, between our general awe and the warm horses, it was hardly noticeable. Can't say enough good about Indian Summer. ps. Guys, this ride is a great way to get some major points with the wife/girlfriend :)

We took a girls trip up to the Crozet VA area and booked a ride at Veritas Vineyard. The views were so beautiful, horses were very well trained, and Ashton was an incredible guide. Ashton is personable, patient, a great resource for things to do in the area, and a great photographer as well! The wine tasting at Veritas after the ride capped off a great day....We had a memorable time and definitely encourage any and everyone to book with Ashton for your next getaway!! Loved it!

I highly recommend Ashton and Indian Summer Guide Service for anybody interested a trail ride in the Charlottesville area. Our group of three are all amatuer status and Ashton was wonderfully patient and supportive and the horses were very easy to ride. He was extremely professional and passionate and cares about his riders and his horses. We did nice trail ride through the woods in the Patricia Ann Bryom Forest Preserve.

This was a wonderful ride, the horses were fun, and a new mule joined the ride. We did this on a hot summer day at Veritas, lovely views, good breezes and pleasant company. Ashton and Mary were great guides and hosts, the winery was beautiful . I would really recommend the ride and look forward to doing it again.

You can NOT go wrong doing this! We went on a ride through Veritas Vineyards for a girls weekend. Ashton and Mary met us with a variety of horses and matched us based our experience. We had a beautiful ride up to the top of the vineyard and experienced breath-taking views! Mary and Ashton were knowledgable and so fun to talk to!!! This is worth every penny and an experience you will never forget! I will be going back to do various rides because it was so much fun!

Excellent way to spend a few hours in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Ashton and his horses were wonderful.
