For the wine lovers in Virginia, and elsewhere, you must visit Cave Ridge Vineyards. Wine maker and owner, Randy Phillips is brilliant in that he has the property that grows great grapes and has the talent to transform the juice into great wines. Regardless of appreciation of red or whites, you will find at least several wines that are very suitable for your palette. I must say that the Cab and Cab Franc especially thrilled my taste buds, though the Merlot and Syrah were certainly at the party.

Going in with no expectations, I loved Cave Ridge! Upon entering the tasting room, we were welcomed by several very pleasant employees. The wine was good and the views were nice, but would have been better during a different season. Overall, I had a good experience. Not amazing, but worthy of a recommendation.

Cave Ridge has some really good wines. The 2014 Red Silk was awesome. The Riesling was not too sweet, went down easily. Looking forward to going back in warmer weather.

We had a great experience at Cave Ridge. Their tasting room was large enough to do several tastings at once, so it wasn't too crowded. They have a nice outdoor area and also a very comfortable upstairs lounge area. Their wines also were really good, and the price for the tasting was very reasonable.One great thing for us is that this really is a dog friendly winery. We had our dog with us (husky mix, not a small dog) and everyone was genuinely happy to see him. They were really nice and brought us some water and treats for him too. Highly recommend this place!!

Beautiful view and very good wines. Service was also good. Skip the reserve tasting ($10) & get the regular at $6. Not sure where the wine club is worth it or not, we did not get it. Better than Shenandoah or wolf gap & more $ reasonable as well.

Stopped in late on a Friday and did the deluxe tasting. Great wines and great Friday night live music with delicious food.

Loved the setting around the tasting room. The wines were ok, but not my favorite of the vineyards in this area. The driveway coming up to the tasting area is cool because you drive up right along the vines, but it is only one lane so hope that no one is coming at you from the opposite way.

I have been here multiple times and am more impressed every time. Their wine is incredible and sets the bar high for Virginia wines. Make sure to try the Fossil Reserve and the Reisling. I love going on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer, as there is always great live music. They book some very talented musicians. You also cannot beat the location. It's the perfect setting to sit and enjoy some great wine!

Stopped at 6 vineyards today. They were all good but this one was our favorite. They have a wine for almost anyone's taste. Friendly, knowledgeable staff help make it an especially fun experience. Can't wait to go back.

These are some of the nicest people you will every meet at a vineyard! We stocked up over the weekend which we do every couple of months. They have special events and tastings and the atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. Be sure that you stop there and enjoy yourselves.

Our tasting last weekend was awesome- Jacque was super knowledgeable and down to earth. You would have guessed she was part of the family who owned the vines. We had a great time and enjoyed the fire with good service as we ordered good and wine. We will send all our friends here- OHHHH plus the wine is awesome. We should have skipped the other small vineyard or the way in. Love cave ridge!!!

We have been visiting Cave Ridge for a little over 2 years. I enjoy their wine, especially the reds. The staff is friendly, the cheese tray is always yummy and the view is spectacular. A visit to Cave Ridge is always a relaxing afternoon.

Fantastic trip. We went for a tasting and had a great trip. Knowledgeable staff, delicious wine, and a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We were visiting Luray Caverns on Wednesday and decided to top off our experience with a trip to a local winery. Most of the wineries in the area are apparently closed on Wednesdays and this was our closest choice. All in all, we loved the winery. I highly recommend the Reserve wine tasting, as almost all of the regular ones didn't strike a chord with us. However, we've purchased a couple of the reserved bottles which I found very good. We were in a little rush since it was getting dark, so allow yourself some time to enjoy the place. You won't regret this little gem.

We just came from a visit to Cave Ridge Vineyard and it far exceeded our expectations!  We were immediately greeted by Elena who was very personable and was definitely knowledgeable about the wines and the winery.  My husband and I did both their regular tasting and their reserve tasting and very much enjoyed wines from both!  The winery also gave us some complimentary extra tastings (three additional wines) since we were celebrating our honeymoon!  We chose to visit Cave Ridge primarily based on location, other reviews, and the fact they have port wine, however nearly every wine we tasted was enjoyable and several were absolutely incredible!  We particularly enjoyed their Reisling, the Merlot (and I'm generally not a merlot fan), and the Red Silk (cab). To top it off, we sampled their hummus platter and pepperoni roll: they were both very nice, but the pepperoni roll was so good we ordered two more! Service was impeccable! Elena even helped by taking a few couples photos of us inside the winery and outdoors by the vines (taking advantage of the beautiful sunset view!)This place is definitely worth a visit! We will be back!
