Since this is solely supported by a private foundation and visitors, it may seem limited in archives. After visiting his last home in D.C., it might be that most of his items were left in that home. We enjoyed the visit as it tied the beginning of his life together nicely.

Do not miss the opportunity to learn about the Birthplace, museum and Presidential Library of Former President Woodrow Wilson. My 9 year old grandson was as amazed as I was.

Excellent opportunity to experience history of this small town. Woodrow Wilson is an interesting statesman with an equally interesting personal life.

Visited Wilson's birthplace and museum of today, even though it was officially closed. It was an account interesting and informative view of a family's life in the mid 1800's, as well as a nice summary of President Wilson's life and career.

wonderful little museum, etc. and not federally funded. They rely on gifts, and admission, and local support. Quite a good visit and they have limited resources. Definitely recommended.

Everything was well preserved and we felt the pride for this museum. Knowledgable and friendly staff!

A tour starts with a 7 minute film about Woodrow's life. After the film is a 35 minute guided tour of the Wilson house. The house is interesting, however NO photography is permitted making the tour a minus. Outside is a Victorian styled garden.The museum is well worth the admission. A restored running 1919 Pierce-Arrow greets visitors, which is the museum's highlight. The vehicle is used in yearly parades.The museum's lower level is all about WW1 trench warfare, with a realistic trench. A few weapons from the Allies & Central Powers. Information stands tell about New Offensive Weapons-tanks, airplanes & machine guns, Trench Construction, Life in the Trenches and the winning heads of government-The Big Four.The upper level has P. Wilsons recreated Princeton Study. After the Study are President Wilson's laws he worked on. Some are: New Freedoms, Progressive Economic Reforms, Federal Reserve, Social Reforms & Women's Activism.The museum has seven galleries which I only saw only the WW1 era, study & political reforms. If I had arrived one hour sooner, the complete museum would have been visited. I suggest arriving no later than 3:00 P.M. for a two hour visit or skip the house tour. The museum & library are two separate buildings. The library has a small gift shop where tickets are purchased.Parking is off E. Frederick Street, down the hill from the intersection of North Coatler & Frederick. I echo another reviewer that the house is not handicap accessible because of the front steps. History comes alive in the library and museum. Wilson does not get a lot of press these days and this is a great way to gain insight into history that we probably memorized years ago and promptly forgot. The museum is not huge, so it makes and easy visit without wearing you out.

Excellent exhibits and great emphasis on his WWI work and helping found the League of Nations. Very touching and realistic.

I enjoy a good historical tour on a trip, and thought the Woodrow Wilson house and library would be an interesting stop. I knew from reviews that it was small. For the price, though, I would probably recommend skipping it. Wilson only lived in the house for a year or two when he was a young child and the library was the most disorganized museum I've been to in a long time. I had a hard time following the timeline of events and wound up just cruising through the last room or two. If it were free (or at least cheaper), then yeah, I'd stop in.

We took my dad here as he has been touring the Pres Libraries all over the countries and he very much enjoyed his visit. This library is self supporting and not as exciting as some of the others we have seen but appropriate to the era and informative. The tour guide to the Manse was very good and we enjoyed her presentation very much. All in all very educational.

The museum tour starts with a 10 minute video of the life of Woodrow Wilson. I had no idea all of the different things he'd done before becoming president, and that he was the only President with a PhD. I also didn't realize he was so sick at the end of his presidential term and there was controversy about whether his wife was really leading the nation or translating his wishes. After the video, you walk through the museum which is the size of a small house, so not too difficult to manage. Then you take the house tour of where he was born and raised the first year of his life. It's an 8 room tour and gave a good idea of what it was like as the son of a minister and the times in the mid-1800's of southern VA. Our tour guide was good though I would have liked a few more personal stories of the time and his family. Easy stop if you're on a road trip or staying in Staunton. It's 2 1/2 miles off I64 or I81. Cost was $14 for an adult. Oh, there's free parking in the back of the museum too.

We just happened to be in Staunton and saw the sign for this attraction. We were given a wonderfully informative tour of the house in which Wilson was born by Derek. I didn't know much about this president but soon I learned he was a many-faceted man who was president during some very trying times. The museum is full of memorabilia, photographs, etc. Be sure to go downstairs, literally, to the trenches of World War I. It is a quite impressive display that includes sound effects. You really get a feel for the conditions soldiers of that war had to endure. Don't miss Wilson's Pierce-Arrow, fully restored. It is amazing! Also, there is an informative 10-minute video about Wilson in the gift shop (where you buy your tickets). Parking is in the back of the building.

Who knows that our 28th president was most likely dyslexic, but went on to write more books than any other president? That he had a PhD from Princeton? That he had been the president of Princeton at one point, and then the governor of NJ? Woodrow Wilson was born in Staunton, Virginia, and the museum dedicated to him, is fascinating to anyone who has even a vague interest in American history. There are three buildings. One is the house he was born in, the second is a gift shop, where you buy the entrance tickets, and the third is the museum and library, which are logically presented and informative.

Very small but has lots of history. If your into presidential librariesand in Staunton, Virginia, go and check it out.
