We just spent the last weekend here. It was our first trip here and won't be the last. So pleasant and quiet. The lake is small and so is the park but it was tons of fun. We fished off the fishing dock and caught catfish, bass and some sunfish. The bathrooms were very clean. I've never been in such a clean shower at a campsite plus lots of wonderful hot water. There was a very large storm coming through our first night and the park ranger came through to make sure we would be ok. We didn't rent a canoe or paddle boat but they were there and available. If you want a quick beautiful getaway come check out this little gem.

This little park was a second choice because the one I wanted to go to was full. Having not been here before (and other reviews were pretty good) I booked. VERY glad I did. From our arrival at the front check in (gate) we were treated like old friends! The park is immaculate, the campsites are shady, the area is beautiful! A large pavillion, paddle boating, a "swimming beach" (although the water is low it still felt good), fishing, great hiking trails or just stay on the road. The staff is great and always around if you need anything. I expressed concern that another family was rather loud/had a BIG fire at the site (after 10 pm/quiet time) & it was handled with no problems! The town of Bonham is nice and we enjoyed the beautiful homes as well as the historical sites and little shops.I highly recommend this park to anyone! Very glad we went there.

At the park you can swim, canoe, paddle-boat, and camp. The canoe and paddle-boat rentals come with life jackets. My family had so much fun paddling around the lake and picnicking. The park itself is really quiet, peaceful, and clean. There are bike trails in the woods that you can ride on. The rangers are very friendly and my family will come back for sure.

We went hiking during the winter months. It was quiet and clean. The ranger was extremely helpful. We'll come back!

My family has a State Park Pass & uses this nearby park often. Reality is not as good as photos on the park web site, but still adequate. Modern restrooms with showers. Decent hike/bike trails. Small lake with short pier. Nice swimming beach with plenty of sand for building sand castles. Large shelter with picnic tables near beach can be rented for group use, but anyone can use if not reserved. Shelter is close enough to the lake to shade parents watching older kids enjoying the water. Other picnic tables with grills scattered around shaded area. Swingset and sand volleyball pit near beach. Not usually over-crowded. Some of the trees have taken a hit from the recent drought and had to be taken down, but still a nice enough area. Large flock of geese & a few ducks to feed, so bring extra bread! As in all Texas State Parks, no glass containers & no alcohol. Overall, an inexpensive way to spend a family afternoon.

Bonham State Park features a pleasant cross-timbers wooded area surrounding a small lake. The woods are laced with easy but enjoyable hike and bicycle trails. The lake offers reasonably good fishing, including a small fishing pier, as well as the simple joy of paddling around in a rented canoe. The people who staff the ranger station are always friendly and helpful. The old CCC buildings at the park are pleasant. The park is rarely, if ever, crowded, and has a really pleasant vibe. The town of Bonham, 10 to 15 minutes away, offers small town charm, a bit of history, and a few good places to eat.I like this park because I can drive here from my home an hour away in Collin County and enter a small world which feels safe, pleasant and relaxing. Sometimes people lament the lack of a good woodland park in north Texas--but perhaps those people have not visited Bonham State Park.

Great place to picknic for the day or overnight camping. Last visit was for a family reunion. Beautiful views, swimming, biking and hiking trail. Lots of wildlife!

Very good park! Visited Bonham SP with about 15 college friends. This is an annual trip we take and the first time we've done so in a state park. The park ranger and park management worked with us. The group rented all the tent camp sites and a couple of the trailer sites. Had a blast. The park facilities worked out well. This would be a good park to go with your family. The lake looked great. The campsites are shaded and were comfortable.

This state park is small, very small. However, if you camp there, you are in for a treat, because every camp site pretty much is either lake front or has lake view due to how small this state park is. Also, it has everything...swimming area, bike and hiking trails, canoe rental, and fishing. So this is a good place if you just want a day trip. It's nothing compares to big national parks but sufficient just for a getaway.
