If you live in Carrollton or are just visiting, a trip to the Perry Homestead is worth it if you enjoy history and seeing how folks lived when Carrollton was first organized. The home is beautifully restored to original furnishings and the barn is fun to explore as well.

We wanted to do something local and this was perfect. We enjoyed seeing this old homestead and how people lived back then. Everything in the house was authentic and the woman working was very informative.

This is a wonderful historic home; bathed in history of Carrollton. Lots to see and enjoy. The have a lot of antique furniture to see and dishes from another era. Lots of fun for kids, especially.

This is a lovely home and grounds with knowledgeable curator and staff. Interesting for adults and children. The barn area and the grounds are very well kept and pleasant to stroll around.

This is a quick-visit museum-repurposed historic turn-of-the century homestead. The staff is very nice and quite informed on the history. The park and ground around the building are gorgeous and well-maintained also. For a free visit, it is worth it if you are in the area. It isn't extensive, so don't plan on making more than a morning out of it, but for this type of attraction it is better-run than most and therefore worth it. I wish they'd let you tour some of the outbuildings in the back as well, or the upstairs of the house.

This is a well preserved old homestead. It is just that, a home from the turn of the 20th century. It is mostly old furniture and old kitchen implements, Nothing particularly fascinating if you are not interested in a glimpse into frontier life.

Perry Homestead has several functions throughout the year that are well worth attending. The homestead includes a small house and other buildings that you can visit to see how folks from the past lived. We've attended small events there and bring blankets and a picnic basket and thoroughly enjoy the grounds. Good place for kids to run around with a frisbee too!

We went for a back-in-time type event to learn about how to make your own household cleaning products, grow veggies, raise hens, etc. It was definitely lacking in the vendor/instructor department. There were only a handful of booths and, while a couple were interesting, nobody provided any clear directions on how to have your own suburban farm. The grounds are gorgeous. The trees and rolling hills with benches set a very peaceful setting.

Located just northeast of the historic Carrollton Square, the homestead was purchased in 1857 by A. W. Perry, one of the pioneer settlers in the Peters Colony. The present home was built in 1909 by Mr. DeWitt Perry and was occupied by family members for over 100 years. Today the 12-acre homestead is owned by the City of Carrollton as a museum and park. The restored interior is full of period furniture and household items. Surrounding the home are a barn, smokehouse, and generator house. Tours are available 3 days a week and the grounds are also used for special events. A great place to learn about north Texas history in the early 1900's.
