This small, but nicely organized museum is dedicated to all things "Gone With The Wind" and is located in Cleburne, TX. The museum is the personal collection of Vicky Lynn Rogers who has been collecting memorabilia for over 30 years. The collected items were displayed for ease to look and read and enjoy. On display are original costumes, scripts and a variety of other interesting facts and items from the movie and actors associated with it. In one large display case was a personal favorite of mine that was way in the back - the Carol Burnett doll dressed in the infamous of green velvet gown with the curtain rod. This if a fun tour to remember a very special movie. Be sure to stop in the very nice gift shop for a souvenir of the visit to Tara.
For the price of a matinee theater ticket, you can experience Gone With the Wind's place in cinematic and American cultural history as you walk in the door. Kudos to the owner/operator, Vicky Lynn Rogers, for sharing this fabulous collection began 30 plus years ago with the public. As the first film with commercialized licensed products, GWTW really impacted pop culture-- as evidenced by the plethora of items to see! Special video displays include the life of author Margaret Mitchell, the making of GWTW, and the movie itself on a loop.Adults-- $7, Seniors and students with ID's-- $5. An audio tour is in the works for an extra $3.
