This is the birthplace of a Mexican hero from the days when Texas was a part of Mexico. Certainly as it is adjacent to Presidio La Bahia, it is a part of your visit to Goliad.
I wanted to see this sight. Unfortunately it is managed Goliad State Park and is only open for 1/2 day on the weekends IF they have a volunteer
Presidio La Bahia Chapel, fort, Fannin’s Memorial and the birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza state Historic Site are 2 miles south of Goliad, TX. They are certainly worth self touring. Admission to Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Site is free. It is a small museum house.
If your answer isn't France, you don't know your Mexican history -- Furthermore, I doubt you know that the General responsible hails from Goliad, Texas! When you are done visiting the Presidio La Bahia don't overlook the small little building across the road. It may look like a gift shop, but its not -- It's a museum and the Birthplace of General Zaragoza. The exhibits (together with a very nice State Park Volunteer) take you through this part of Mexican History and Texas' part.Who knew that one could say that the "Birthplace of the Cinco de Mayo Holiday" has roots in Texas, and Goliad,Texas in particular! It is free, and open when the "open" flag is out. Schedule about 45 minutes to see.
