We live about 20 minutes from here, and other years have gone frequently to swim or sit by the river. It has been fun to watch others on the rope swing, but we've seen folks get hurt, too, jumping without checking first for trees submerged in the river, too. This last summer, there was work being done on the dam, so we didn't go as often, but we hope to return. It's also a great place to go with visitors who'd be interested in the old mill buildings (there's good signage and audio available on your cell phone). The special events building is lovely. Decent bathrooms and an outdoor shower, which is very useful if you've been in the river. If you're traveling with someone who is disabled, be warned parking is across the street and it's a bit of a walk to the river itself.
We enjoyed walking around these old buildings and trying to imagine what it was like back when this area used this mill.
Zedler Mill is an old mill that has lots of interesting buildings to see and read about, the river run through and canoeing is available. It is also a wedding venue and that is why I was there. My granddaughter got married, outdoor wedding with a large reception is the hall. Very nice !! Enjoyed my visit
Swimming in the San Marcos river is great at Zedler Mill and my kiddo absolutely loves the rope swing would recommend this for a fun swimming hole stop for the family
A bit different that some of the out of the way wedding venues. Lovely surroundings and really nice room. I am a cake vendor so I did not deal with the venue but had to say I was impressed with the looks!
My aunt and uncle had their 50th Anniversary party here and it was just beautiful! There was plenty of room for quite a few round tables, plus tables for food and some for hors d'oeuvres. It was nicely landscaped outside and made for great picture taking indoors and out. The "windows" are actually doors that can be rolled up on nice days. The historical aspect of the museum and the San Marcos River are just bonuses. There are restrooms inside and out as well. I do not know the cost of the rental. There is an amphitheater style area for outdoor weddings, too.
Just a really cool outdoor venue with great pavilion for special events. We loved our visit there. Saw a large turtle on the sidewalk outside the pavilion. Special treat.
My sister's wedding Reception was held here on a lovely October day. The ambience outdoors and in was of relaxed country elegance. Most of the interior has floor to ceiling window/doors so you get the feel of the outdoors in the comfort of A/C. The historic mill itself, the outdoor amphitheater, the rustic bridge all furnished great backdrops for photos. We were completely passed with the venue.
If you live near Luling, Texas and are having an intimate wedding (150 or less), I would recommend Zedler Mill. As a guest at my niece's wedding, I enjoyed the natural beauty along with the man made facilities. The grounds lend itself well to a wedding in the ampitheater overlooking the river, the outside cocktail area and the inside eating area with large glass garage doors that can be raised to let in a nice breeze are perfect for keeping a crowd together. There is a brides area where the wedding party can get dressed and "hide" until the ceremony. The old buildings on the grounds make for nice backdrops for pictures without ever leaving the original wedding site. It was nice to have "one stop" for the wedding and reception. My niece also rented the house directly across the street for the weekend. It was perfect for many reasons, one being that the small children could go home with a sitter and be right across the street. Overall, a nice experience
We attended a friend's wedding here and it was absolutely beautiful! The couple got married by the river as guests watched on stone benches that are tiered down the hill. There is a pavilion close to the clubhouse that is perfect for bartenders to set up. The reception was held in the clubhouse (which has a full kitchen). After the sun went down, they opened the doors (outside walls of the clubhouse) and let the cool breeze blow through. It was an excellent place for an outdoor wedding. I'd like to go back and have a picnic!
