Too bad I never learned to two-step. What a great dance hall. We arrived early for the Wade Bowen show, not knowing what time he was actually performing. The bartender was super friendly. Yeah, I realize that she wasn't busy yet but nevertheless, she spent time talking with us and making us feel welcome. We got a drink and found a seat, up close to the stage, and just sat and people watched. The crowd was relatively younger than we are, 49-52. No matter though, we just sat back and enjoyed watching the couples dancing. There are several bars in this place so one doesn't have to go far for a drink. There were two waitresses walking around to take drink orders as well. As the night went on, the crowd grew. It got a little crowded near the stage which is what I would expect for a live performance. The opening band started playing at around 10 p.m. Pretty decent. Don't remember their name. Then Wade Bowen began at a little after 11. I hadn't heard him before and think he was probably pretty good however the band sound was so loud I couldn't really hear the words he was singing. Once in a while I could understand the music, but not much. I was disappointed. One of the reasons I love good country music is because you can actually hear the song, above the music. Not the case here. We moved to the other side of the dance hall to see if it was any better but it wasn't. Unfortunately we decided to leave not long after midnight because the show was not what we expected.

My wife and I went to see Casey Donahue had a blast. It was a little crowded but worth it. Long lines for drinks but it's a bar. Will be back every time for Authentic Texas country music.

Saturday night we went to Midnight Rodeo San Angelo to see Mark Chesnutt in concert. It turned out to be an acoustic set. My wife called to see if we needed to make a reservation. She was told they don't accept reservations, that it was first come, first served. When we went in, we picked a place in front of the stage. A gentleman came up and said that the seats were reserved for them because they were "regulars". A manager came over and we were asked to move. Then, two of the people who had "reservations" left the establishment. To top it off, we received three drinks total in a four hour period. One of the managers came by to pick up empties and my wife told him we haven't seen a waitress in over two hours. He said he would send one right away. We never saw another waitress the rest of the night. We will not be returning to this establishment.
