They used dynamite to make the cave the size it is. The gift shop is nice. The tower is very poorly kept. I was very scared of going in the elevator. We opted out of the train ride. It cost way too much for only seeing a man-made cave.

This place was a wonderful find. It's off the beaten path but worth it. The train took us through the animal park where we fed deer then went through a cave where we were allowed to touch the walls our guide Sean was excellent and answered every question we had from there we went to the look out tower and the view was beautiful. We finished the tour off in the gravity house. Amazing children and adults of all ages enjoyed this very much. Will definitely go back.

It was so much fun. I went on a date and the cave tour is absolutely amazing. Definitely ask questions while you are on the cave tour because the tour guides are very knowledgable. I felt a little claustrophobic at the beginning of the tour but once we started moving it opened up and I'm so glad I went. N.S.

We arrived at the park early to be some of the first ones through the safari with our kids. We did some walking around while waiting for the gates to that part to open and saw some of the animals there, that was pretty neat. The safari, however, was very lackluster. The best part of going through a safari is having the animals come up to the car and feed them, well right before they opened the gates, the staff fed the animals so the animals were too busy eating breakfast to come up to the cars for the kids to see. Their selection of animals was sub-par as well with maybe only 15 different kinds. This doesn't seem too bad except when you factor in that a family of 5 would spend over $100 to get in to see these animals. All in all not worth it.

We paid $32.50 for a 10 minute ride with one stop and none of the kids able to feed the animals. The driver didn't even give the animals a chance to come up to the train. It was certainly not worth the price of admission. I wish I would have known how awful it was before I paid all that money - for an extra $2.00 you can go to the snake farm and to the petting zoo and have a much better experience. Terrible.

Only did the cave tour. The rest of the attractions screamed tourist trap.The cave is interesting, but kind of dull. It is a dry cave, and they do point out the fault line, but when compared with the Natural Bridge Caverns tour and sights...it does not hold up. Especially for the price.If you are bored in San Marcos and literally are out of ideas, sure, come take a look, especially with younger kids. Safe to say you are not missing anything if you choose something else.

Of the two caverns in the area, this is the best. Funner and less restrictive than the competition. The staff is absolutely wonderful and FUN!

Right after the well, I had the creepiest feeling of something pushing against my chest! totally creeped me out! One other person on the tour had an odd feeling, said the hairs on his neck stood up! Im sensitive, im just wondering if someone died in that spot. Just made my heart race. Over priced, moldy, pretty lame, but 70 ft below ground, not to shabby if you can appreciate old rocks, the wonder of being under or within an actual fault line. I don't recommend it to toddler moms or kids under 7, steep, slippery and mold filled. The smelly deer park was cool, the Emu pecked my daughter! They dont have fountain drinks, they poured 2 .5 cans of Sprite in a cup to make a large and the popcorn was popped last year!

First time we went to Wonder World was back in the late 80's with our children. We now visited with our grandchildren and we had a blast. The cave is not that big as to be intimidating for the young ones and the other 3 things included, visiting the 150 ft. tall tower, the anti-gravity house, and the petting zoo were perfect for our 9 & 5 year old granddaughters. Enjoyed the whole thing.

We took our 3yr old son because I knew this was the right age for Wonder World. I used to come here as a kid myself. Save a few bucks and look for the coupons on the website or in the informational pamphlets at your hotel. The cave tour takes you 93 feet below the surface and that was plenty with a 3yr old. Buy 2 bags of food for the train because the deer are very hungry. Pay close attention and keep the bag away from them. They will steal they bag! This makes the best part of your journey with children. My son was feeding the deer out of his hand and had no trouble. But, again listen to your guide. As a parent I highly suggest after feeding to not just use antibacterial gel on your hands, but go to a sink and use soap and water on your children. Just a suggestion. We visited at the end of the season so traffic was limited and it was nice not to be in such a large crowd. My son loved the anti gravity house. He thought it was the coolest thing. Due to drought restrictions there is no waterfall.This place has been in San Marcus for a very long time and has been a Texas tradition for many of us. It only takes about 1:30-2:00hrs for everything and your kids will have fun. It's clean family fun. We had a picnic before our tour.

The caves were fun and the guide was extremely informative. Its nice to be in a casual atmosphere and the kids really enjoyed it. The Petting zoo and tower were fun. the anti Gravity house was a favorite among the kids.

I went here as a kid over 30 years ago and decided to take my kids also. Its kinda expensive (over $65 for three of us) but the cavern is neat and the zero gravity house was fun. The train ride through the wildlife park was interesting with quite a few animals to see. Give yourself a couple of hours and hopefully you won't get the same tour guide we did, he was very difficult to understand.

I took 3 kids: 11, 9 and 7; all loved it! Even my husband and I enjoyed it. The anti-gravity house and feeding the deer was especially fun. Worth the time and money.

We have visited "live" caves before. Live caves have growing stalactites and stalagmites. This cave tour was interesting even though it does not have any growths. There is also the gravity house. My kids enjoyed this most. Nice day trip from San Antonio.

There's a lot to do here - two to three hours at least. Cave tour, observation tower, anti-gravity house, small zoo. Picnic area if you are inclined.The cave is a dry cave, which means the kids can touch the walls without damaging anything. The tour does involve a lot of stairs and low ceilings so a bit of personal fitness is required. The tour guides do a good job of explaining the cave, it's different rocks, the history, etc.The tower is just a place to see the area around it but is a way to contrast the coastal plains and the hill country as it straddles the divide.The anti-gravity house is campy, but if you (or your kids) have never seen one it is fun.The petting zoo is pretty much just deer that come right up to the train to eat the food. Great for kids who want to feed and pet deer. They have other animals in cages and loose in the deer park such as emu, llama, Rio Grande turkeys, peacocks, goats, and some others. Nothing exciting but its fun for the kids to ride the little trackless train and feed the animals.The gift shop is classic old school toys and science stuff. Pop guns, stick horses, miner's helmets, geododes, magnets, science kits, stone art, glass art, stone jewelry, and much more. Every kid needs to wander through a store like this a few times to see what kids played with before video games and plastic junk. It's amazing how much fun they'll have playing with some magnetic rocks.This place can be busy during school breaks. During the school year, it's slower. Might be cheaper, too.The negatives people will point to: it's over priced and outdated. Yes and yes. Find a coupon in the Entertainment book, in the tourist guide, on the Internet, show your military ID (big discounts). And it's a classic, more than 110 years old, so yes it's worn and dated. But nothing terrible - it's safe, well staffed, well lit, etc. And it's old fashioned fun for the family. And the money goes to a local small business that employees a lot of college kids.
