Travelers who enjoy Texas history and/or architecture should definitely visit this well-maintained museum.Allan Shivers was a Texas Governor and statesman during the 1940s to 1960s.You first visit the local library attached to the museum to pay a small fee for the tour. The senior citizen discount is for those over 50! A librarian will escort you to the historic house next door. The house was not Allan Shivers' home but he and his wife saved this house from destruction to house his memorabilia.The tour includes a short video presentation, a room full of political cartoons featuring Gov. Shivers, gowns worn by Mrs. Shivers at inaugurations, African safari trophies, and his personal library including rare Texas history books.
