the tea gardens are such a peaceful place. There is a sense of serenity up there. It's a short walk up a steep hill but once you get there its breathtaking. I do recommend having a cup of fresh tea and a light lunch at the cafe. We took some beautiful photos.
this place was closed due to winter,. but just walking through it was breathtaking. I cannot wait to return when they are open and the gardens are in full bloom!!! its going to be exciting!!!
The Tea Gardens have been there since the early 1900's. They are beautiful. It's well worth stopping for a stroll when you visit the zoo.
I went here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and two teenaged kids.No costs involved, a plus. It was a very relaxing place to just walk around, take pictures, watch the birds and animals, and enjoy the scenery. Some repairs were being done due to last year's flooding, however, it didn't prevent us from being there. We were still able to easily spend an hour walking around and also outside of this area had a nice park near the zoo. After having lived in Japan for over 11 years, it's nice to be able to visit here for a little taste of Asia.
The ponds weren't filled and the fountains weren't spurting but the grounds are gorgeous. I would visit this site again. It is serene and beautiful.
Small relaxing place and the price is right - FREE. Small nice cafe on premises with a nice variety of the different teas, some sandwiches, salads, Bento boxes.
I went ahead and gave this 5 stars even though they are under construction at the moment. I knew this and still decided to go and it was really enjoyable. I can imagine how it will be when they're done with construction. I will visit again when they finish, but just an fyi there are a lot of stairs and paths.
Nice Japanese Garden if you're in the Breckenridge Zoo area. Unique. If you're into visiting pretty areas, tie this in with a visit to nearby McNay Art Institute (gorgeous grounds/Spanish -style donated mansion) and Landa library (another gorgeous Spanish style converted mansion). Great areas for taking family pictures with beautiful scenery and backdrops.
There have been signs of renovations for close to a year and I still haven't seen anything happening. Actually just gates going around the entire property is all that has happened. I t can be very beautiful, but not for a while!
I always enjoying coming here to relax and walk around. It is free and a walk around only takes a short time. From here there are plenty of other things to do in the area from the zoo to hiking trails and golf courses.
This is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. If you are ever close I would greatly suggest that you stop and enjoy the beauty of nature. The Koi are soo... big! If you want to sit and stay for awhile you might bring a folding chair. There is not a lot of places to sit down.
Very nice and beautiful grounds, very well manicured and peaceful. However, it looks like they are undergoing some minor renovations. Still nice to visit.
So beautiful, peaceful, and serene. Plant variations along with differing elevations and geological exposures is overwhelming. Could visit different times of the year and see something different every time.
It is not what I expected. Tea is served in plastic cups. The taste was good though. The surroundings are nice and the restrooms are clean. However, it had more the "fast food" appeal to me. If you are in the area, it is a nice stop but not worth to go the extra mile.
very beautiful place. The City and Parks department has done a great job with landscaping and waterfalls. Now, it has a nice place to get something to drink or eat..called JINGU HOUSE...a must place to see the inside walls and read the history of that family that lived there. The pond is back and the city has made the parking more accessible and easier to find. I recommend you stop at JINGU HOUSE after the walk and perfect place FOR FAMILY photos.....very relaxing...worth the trip.
