It's too bad the rich people were not rich enough therefore they had to close it down so they could waste the taxpayers money by putting in the Chihuahuas Stadium
Cohen Stadium is now closed. It was a superb ballpark back in the early 1990's, offering a fun and exciting venue for AAA Baseball and family fun. We spent many evenings enjoying the game and a cold beer, with the occasional 25-cent hot dog nights. The City of El Paso is currently exploring opportunities for its future use, and we hope it will continue to provide some quality family entertainment for the Northeast El Paso Community.
We had a great time at a Diablos game- all the seats had great views and we appreciated the family sections. Food and drinks were a little expensive.
Loved both Diablos games. I was honored to be able to see two games before the end of an era. To bad the progressives dont see the value in what is already there. Loved the two games
Watch a baseball game there. It's a small local stadium. But you can have a good time with your family. But honestly, it's not a place of interest.
I wish, the prices go little bit low, but if they use all for benefit of the stadium then its working, the installations are ok... I could go again.
This baseball park is a real bargain. Neither my wife or I are sports fans, but you can't beat the price and entertainment for the family.
Great time to sit and watch event. Watch a baseball game , concerts or monster truck shows. NICE PLACE TO BE ALWAYS CLEAN.
Occasionally, military families are offered discounted or free access to the minor league games at Cohen. After attending the games, it's easy to understand why. The stadium offers ample seating, snack bars, bathrooms and parking. Yet, the games are little lackluster.
Have alsways enjoyed the Diablos games since i have lived in El Paso, 2006. safe and fun environment.
Watching the Diablo's play is always a family friendly event, plus the rodeo and dirt bikes come here often.
I went to Cohen stadium as part of a company outing to a Diablos baseball game. If I had gone to see a "real" team, I would have rated this attraction higher. To be fair, this venue is a LOT nicer than any of the acts that it hosts. The people running it really seem to be trying hard. There is plenty of seating and it seems to have a good view. Even though rain isn't much of an issue in El Paso, a lot of the areas are covered (this is probably a HUGE advantage for day games, since the sun here can be brutal). There is a huge variety of concessions. There is standard "baseball" fare such as peanuts and popcorn, but some unique items as well (chili rellanos, taquitos - hey, this is El Paso). They made a point of doing all of the "baseball" things (seventh inning stretch, etc.), had promotions going and all in all tried to make it seem "big leagues".The one "weird" thing that this stadium had was a swimming pool (above-ground) that kids could play in during the game. I assume/hope that it was supervised, but I didn't let my daughter play in it.Sadly, the Diablos are TERRIBLE...and things are only going to get worse. El Paso is building a new stadium downtown and has purchased a AAA team (currently the Tucson Padres). The end may be near for Cohen stadium, but the owners/staff really tried to make it a fun experience while they could.
If im not mistaken that is a picture of the Abraham Chavez Theater. Back to the Diablos they are not very good at baseball. They will soon be replaced. The city has purchased a Triple A baseball that is affiliated with the San Diego Padres. We will be building a state of the art downtown ballpark. The new team is set to begin play for the 2014 season.
Great seats everywhere in the stadium and ticket prices are cheap. Very fun! Can't wait for next season!
This taxpayer-funded stadium was initially built to replace an ancient ballpark in the Chamizal, as well as to stimulate growth in the Northeast. It is home to the El Paso Diablos, a minor ball club recently acquired by the Tigua tribe. Numerous other events are held there, including Boy Scout, Girl Scout, and other functions. This 10,000 seat facility has a sunbrella extending out over almost all of the seating, with several box seats, not accessible only through general admission.
