Well worth the $8. Amazing views at top of Ranger Peak. You can stay as long as you want until park closes. The tramway ride itself is great. May lookmterrifying, but it's not. Very nice & steady as you ascend/descend. The views of El Paso & Ciudad ajuarez are beautiful. It gets cold & windy up there, so dress appropriately. 5632 feet up!!!!
Good experience, you can look over the whole of El Paso and you can see mexico. There a gift shop when you get there however that wasn't that great price little high,
This was a nice side attraction. The view is gorgeous from the top. Bring a coat though because its much colder at the top and you will be waiting in a line for awhile to get back down.
There's not much to this. The gift shop is tiny and there isn't much but the view is great. You can not only view El Paso but Juarez, Mexico as well.
I didn't know about this tramway until we were driving to go see other places. I generally like high place, so I can't help myself for going up on a tower or a tram somewhere in the world everytime I see them.I didn't read the review before and just decided to head out first thing in the morning. Looked up on the web ton confirm they open from 10am on Sunday, and we were there at 10am.There were only handful of others and we didn't have to wait at all to go up to the top.Tram is smaller than what I've used to see but it was very clean and nice. Normally I would feel bump going up but this particular day, weather was nice and it was a very smooth ride to the top, perhaps 4-5 mins.Friendly ranger was there to give us information about the tram and the area, and I enjoyed a short ride.Once you are up there, 360 degrees of El Paso, also get to see New Mexico and Mexico. I didn't realize Mexico was so close, I decided to walk over the bridge after learning how close Mexico was (luckily I had a passport with me).Great way to learn about El Paso and its history, highly recommend.
It is not a huge place to tour, it is only small place to see the brief history how it settled the site place. At first impressed learning about Mr. Wyler's story. And it was beautiful to see the view of El Paso, Juarez, Mexico, and part of New Mexico. I wish the weather's clearly blue, then I would ably see the far cities since I can see some brown clouds on the sky view. The riding of tram is neat and nice smooth, lucky, no gusty wind.Recommend yall go there for your experience to see the view of Juarez compare El Paso at the dusk time.
More of a kiddie ride.Did not look safe. Only can take 6 people at time. Long wait to go & return. No protection for passengers while in line to go & return. Exposed to the harsh elements.
Went with a European friend in April 2014. The ride cost $8 per person with a humorous park ranger. Once up there, you get to see 270% view in east, south and west of El Paso (and Juarez). This is the place to bring out-of-town visitor in the day time. The panoramic view is better than Scenic Drive in the day time (of course you pay $8 to help to conserve the park).
is great place for locals and visitors... fair price... i only think they should keep open until 9 pm so we can enjoy the city lights...
Be sure not to go on a windy our cloudy day. We were visiting over Christmas, and half of the days we were there the tops of the mountains were in the clouds. From the top you can see all of EL Paso and Juarez, as well as some of the mountains. There are two trails at the top that you can take back down (weather permitting). I believe you have to schedule that hike from the bottom, please call the Tramway if you are interested, as we did not hike, I just saw the trails (and the entrance to the trails). If you go on a calm day, the tramway only sways a little at start and finish, the ride up is smooth. But if it is windy, I am guessing there would be a good bit of rocking. Please remember, the top of the tramway is ~2000ft above downtown El Paso, so it will be colder at the top. Which would make for a great summer visit (to get you out of the heat a bit.
Unlike aerial trams elsewhere [ think Albuquerque] this tram only holds a maximum of 6! passengers. Long lines. On a cold December day, I gave up waiting and threw my ticket in the recycling bin.
worthy of a visit, especially if you have children, the wait is always <10 minutes, affordable with great views, gift shop at the top
We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a cable car to take us to the top but that was because it was a cold and cloudy day. In fact, the day we went up it was snowing a little. So, for us, this was a trade-off. Normally, it can be a two hour wait this time of year but that assumes one has a cloudless view of the city at the top. There is a gift shop at the top and a couple of trails as well. Beautiful views of the whole area when it is clear.
Went to Tramway with friends and had a great time. Views were great. Staff very friendly. I would suggest to anyone to ride the tram.
Easy drive to the top. $8 for adults, and well worth it. The tram takes you to the top of ranger peak, and offers an amazing view of the surrounding valley, as well as a spot to observe the sun set.
