You have to go to Verrins Kirche. We were met by a 94 year old historian. He was a hoot !! He was so informative and funny. We both decided he was definitely a highlight of our trip and we so glad we snuck in for a look around.

nice overview and some interesting collections. Check out the secret found by the first letter of a number of street names, it is discussed on a panel to your left after you enter.

Everyone should stop in here when in Fredericksburg. The curators had lots of interesting stories. It was free, but they accept donations.

Great find for history buffs; not your typical tourist trap. The sculptures, dioramas and artifacts were in excellent condition.

Well documented overview of the early history of Fredericksburg. In conjunction with the Pioneer Museum Complex visitors get an excellent representation of the early days of the Fredericksburg area and community.

The relocated church building has a nice expo inside giving some historic perspective to the establishment of the town and its people through the ages. Nicely done...but they need to sort out the difference between Dutch (the Netherlands) and Deutsch and therefor German and Germany. They also have a nice selection of souvenirs.

I wanted to visit this building because of its past history and I didn't realize it was a small treasure of Fredericksburg history. The knowledgeable volunteer who greeted us at the desk also gave us some information about the pictures and artifacts in the museum while giving us some history on Fredericksburg's history. It was a mini museum with lots of great information for free. Be sure to visit the grounds out back where you'll see a statue of the founder of Fredericksburg solidifying the peace treaty with a Comanche leader and learn about this historic pact. I'm so glad we decided to visit this museum!

An older couple greeted me as I went into the church and the lady told me the history of the building and early settling of Fredricksburg. She knew her history well and I enjoyed hearing it from someone who was obviously of German descent (she pronounced all the German words correctly and I asked her if she was of German heritage and she stated she was) and who care about the town/it's story.

This was the church/meeting ground during the early settler days in Fredericksburg. The structure itself is interesting, and that is what we thought it was - just a structure. Actually, it's a small history museum with lots of interesting period artifacts and memorabilia. Make sure you find the poster advertising for Germans to come settle and how much land they were promised if they stayed a certain length of time. The small but nicely stocked gift shop with books and souvenirs is nice to browse. The grounds are lovely...read the plaques n the monuments and enjoy the native Texas plantings. Tip: Park out back where it's a bit shady. Worth the stop!

This to me is my most favorite time to be at the Vereins Kirche because the number of visitors local and from out of town. Can't explain it until you have a chance to drink and toast to all good things GERMAN!

Interesting museum about settlers in the area. Friendly desk staff. No charge for the visit. Located on main street

We had always planned to go into this interesting looking building, but we never made the time. We are so glad we did this trip. It has neat exhibits of early Fredericksburg and the pioneers here.

No charge to look thru this little museum of local history. Easy parking, nice park area on edge of town.

This was the first church and community club of Fredericksburg and it houses much of the history on how the community and its churches came to be.

Museum was closed because of a climate control fair on the grounds. Didn't want to pay to get into an event we were not interested in. Should have been some way for us to get into the museum.
