Last week we drove from austin to buy valley fruit. We bought 8 bags of oranges and every bag had rotten oranges. today i threw out 8 total from the 2 bags i kept for myself. i am embarrassed that i gave this quality of gift to my friends for Christmas. Will not buy from here ever again.
We stopped by here on the way back to San Antonio, it is the end of the season and the type of oranges was limited. We took home two bags of oranges, one bag of grapefruit, pecans and honey. I love orange blossom honey so I bought a huge jar and some small ones. When I got home I tried it and it is delicious! I think that the prime time for the citrus is around December when you would have more selection. We kind of got the tail end but be sure to stop by if you are visiting the area between November and March, you'll surely find something you like here. Try the honey!
I loved the different varieties of citrus! I'm not at all a fan of grapefruit but they had a 'White Gold' variety that was so sweet and tasted a lot like an orange but with a grapefruit twist. Loved it! The staff was really friendly and we enjoyed purchasing lots of different treats. The pecans were really good too!
Loved this place. The fruit was fantastic, and they had some free cut up fruit so you could sample and feel like you were getting the fruit you would like the best.
We stopped in to purchase fruit on our way back to Mississippi. The guy was kind enough to point out we should buy the greener oranges since it would be another 2 days before we arrived home. It has been two weeks and we are still enjoying the delicious oranges...they also have the best flaxseed corn chips I have ever tasted. And as others have said Klements carries a variety of food items. Definitely worth the stop and we will definitely go back on our visit next year.
The citrus is great and they have other varieties there as well. The people are very friendly too.
Not far at all from the center of McAllen, citrus orchards & processing center. The store has a large variety of jarred jams, sauces, etc., most of which you'll never find anywhere. They also have fresh pies & juice available, as well as fresh fruit that you can even have shipped across the country. You can even pick your own fruit from the trees, or buy ready to plant saplings if you want to "grow your own". While only open during citrus season (Nov-April), definitely put Klement's Grove on your 'do not miss' list!
