bowlin's running indian

Had heard about this ages ago on some travel show. The new owners are very nice, friendly and ready with stories. GREAT for t-shirts and postcards. Loved looking at all of the items, they had a little bit of everything.

As soon as you drive across the Rio Grande coming out of Las Cruces spot the sign of the Running Indian. Before that billboards put you in the mood just like South of the Border in the Carolinas. Get off the highway. Stretch your legs at the Bowlins Old West Shop. Fido, too. Buy two statues, lots of postcards, and a magnet. Purchase Indian tomahawks, toys, seeds, purses, wallets, belts, T-shirts, and a huge variety of gifts. All Bowlins stores sell gas. The building looks like something from the Old West. Just part of the fun.

Wasnt as big as I thought it would be..but was still nice..staff was very helpful and friendly...purchases some moccasins and other small souvenirsThey had a lot of great stuff to purchase..well worth the stop..prices were fair

I don't like being so critical of small businesses but maybe it will help them pick up some business. I love souvenirs but more authentic merchandise. Most of everything I touched was from another continent. To me, its important for businesses to show support for their community by supporting local artists and other businesses. Keep the money in your state! You have talent all around you. Take that gift and use it :)
