We drive through the Village of Corrales every chance we get going from Rio Rancho to Albuquerque, love the rustic, calm feel to it. I belong to an arts society that originates there and love participating in Art in the Park in Corrales the 3rd Sunday each month May-October. The Village of Corrales and its arts community feed my soul..Corrales also has great galleries.
A piece of charm and quite surrounded by the hustle of Albuquerque and the sprawl of Rio Rancho. Definitely worth a slow tour and to enjoy the beauty of this place!
In the Village of Corrales one meet friendly people who greet you with open arms. The Village is quiet and peaceful.
One street of local market, old church and museum, pottery and other little shops to explore. The pottery shop is open 24 hours with an honor system for payment! Delightful change of pace.
Chickens on leashes, ferrets in tutus, motorcycle brigades, HORSES (lots of horses!), Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Kids throw candy from decorated wagons, a kazoo Band, LOTS of bands, Civil War reenactment marchers, fire trucks...it has all the makings of the perfect start to the 4th of July festivities and it's FREE! Put on your Red, White and Blue; bring your water bottle, chair and suntan lotion, find the "perfect" spot (shade, if you get there early enough) and wave your Flag with pride. TIP: We like to begin with breakfast at one of the fantastic cafés in town (after we "reserve" our perfect spot and put our gear down to save it). Trust me...it's the BEST time a kid of 4 or 40 or 80 can have!
