we tasted wine and cheese, the young man that assisted us was very accommodating, i am sorry i can't remember his name, maybe it was the wine, we had a great time

They are anatomically correct, which is easily noticeable to the youngsters. :). Their legs even have chestnuts. The write-ups about the different breeds sound like advertising, and indeed are sponsored by a horse club. I mostly liked the positions, with one pair seeming to have leapt over a small embankment.

Here you will find larger than life sculptures of different American horse breeds portrayed in realistic muscle tensing action. I have never seen sculpture that could portray the majestic motion of the horse in a more absorbing and powerful way than at this free to the public garden. Also the differences in the breeds are portrayed and the history of the breeds are explained in plaques besides the pieces. If you are in Ruidoso don't miss this.

Whether or not you are a horse lover you cannot help to admire and be awed by these beautiful statues of horses. They are gorgeous and accurate creations, set in a perfect location to show them off. Plaques explain each of the breed examples. Look in awe at the balance and poise of each animal and marvel at the engineering that keeps them in position. A must stop near Ruidoso Downs.

Dave McGary was one of the great artists of our time. I have admired his work for more than 25 years. I'm so sad he is no longer with us to continue his amazing creations. These horses are really incredible and a must-see for every visitor to this area. Take the time to stop and walk around them.

We have been living in NM just over 2 months now. There is a lot to see & do in the area & we are yet to stop for a closer look. But these statues are so massive they are impossible to miss. We have driven past them many times. My favorite is the white Arabian horse in the center. It has a rocking horse movement conveyed clearly in the sculpture. I know that the pace of the other horses is no strain to it.

This is such a lovely, peaceful place to visit. The sculptures are absolutely beautiful. Amazing life-like and several are balancing on one hoof. The park is grassy & shaded with paved pathways that make it easy to walk. A beautiful little park to relax & enjoy. It is beside the Hubbard Museum about a mile past Ruidoso Downs

These horses are beautiful to look at. Stroll around and then check out the museum. If you like horses this is something to see.

Larger than life horses gallop over a hill and through a pretty park. Definitely a fun photo op. Other reviews mentioned the balancing on one hoof so we were especially looking for those. It was quite amazing. All of the horses are identified with a placard sign with a blurb about the particular breed. The horses are right by the Hubbary Museum making a nice outing together.

We really enjoyed our stop here. Sculptures were so beautiful. The visitor center is next door which added to the stop. Two Geocaches in area which enhanced the visit. Makes for a great photo op!

Very well done. Peaceful setting and worth the time spent. Was impressed at how realistic the statues were.

Larger-than-life horses running through a landscape. Comfortable walkway (some steps and incline) with benches and good spots for photos. Signs giving descriptions of the breeds.

These wonderful statues are one and a half times life size and weight a ton or more each. Some of the horses are balanced on one hoof. They represent the American horse breeds and are beautifully done, with Dave's attention to detail. There are swirls in the hair of their coats, and are wonderful to spend time looking at and photographing. A wonderful introduction to the Hubbard Museum of the American West (formerly the Museum of the Horse).

Beautiful, vibrant depictions of American horse breeds - greenery and benches make this a wonderful place to sit and contemplate.
