A nice place to view wild birds up close, no crowds, no noise, a free non profit facility run by caring people for injured raptors, but they help all wild animals when called upon. NO pressure to donate just a simple wooden box to drop a few bucks in, well worth seeing with the kids,

We took our son here. Made a donation but no mandatory fee. Lots of beautiful wild birds you can normally not see so close!Yes the enter fee is by donation but consider before walking away that they exists because of those who donate!Tranquil grounds and lots of local artists around sketching away.

We like visiting this place when we are near the Environmental Center. Great to see the eagles, hawks, and other raptors up close. Kids love to see the birds and feel great knowing that they are helping the kind souls who maintain this establishment to care for the injured or sick birds.

It's regarded as one of the best free care and assistance facilities or injured, sick or orphaned wild birds in the USA, and especially for raptors. It was established in 1968 when Leonard Soucy bought 14 acres of land on the southern end of the Great Swamp in Millington, New Jersey. Today it has a medical infirmary, education building and a gift shop. It is a non-profit but donations are appreciated. A suggested donation is $2 and well worth the money. There are 70 exterior cages where permanent residence are housed. Permanent residence include hawks, eagles, falcons and owls. Due to there injuries they can not be released. Many hundreds of birds are nurtured to health and released, The permanent residence birds are used for education, foster parenting and breeding. Each cage has an information plaque so you can learn about the bird. A very pleasant staff will answer questions and special events like tour-talks and Raptor Photo events are scheduled. They have a website at http://theraptortrust.org/. The trust is right down the road from the Lord Sterling Environmental center and close to the Helen C. Fenske Great Swamp Visitor's center and hiking trails. The Raptor's Trust and Great Swamp makes for a fun and educational experience.

An interesting 30 minute or so walk thru a raptor zoo of sorts. My nephews (2.5 & 4 years old) were really intrigued by the different varieties of owls, hawks, falcons and eagles. As were the adults. The bald eagles were the unanimous favorite followed by the owls. Plenty of woodpeckers and wild birds feeding along the path with a small gift shop. Very laid back place, just drop a donation in the wood box and help yourself to some literature. Whether you're serious birders or just a family looking for a short excursion you'll enjoy the Raptor Trust. Tips: Bring small binoculars to enhance your viewing experience. Bug spray won't hurt either.

Hawks, owls, eagles, falcons, vultures -- they're all here at this raptor sanctuary. Totally staffed by volunteers, this rehab center and sanctuary for birds of prey that cannot be released into the wild makes for a nice afternoon of strolling and learning. They even care for birds other than raptors; my favorite is the albino robin. The suggested donation is just $2, but be generous! It's a well-kept facility with a small gift shop and hand-made owl and bird houses for sale. On our last visit, we happened upon the release of a rehabilitated red-tailed hawk. It was a lovely sight!

For a small suggested donation, you are able to view the aeries of the raptors that could not be released back into the wild due to the extent of their injuries. They are stunning creatures that you would not always be able to see from that close in the wild. These birds are the wards of Dr. Len Soucy (who unfortunately passed away a few weeks ago). They are amazing creatures. I go there often and support them with charitable donations. It is a wonderful day trip for young and old. I will be going on the guided tour next week and have also done the photo shoot about 3 years qgo. Experience I will never forget.

Great for kids. Interesting place to tour and learn about the variety of raptors in NJ. There is a guided tour of the birds they have helped that have not been releases and stories about the ones that have been released. Pick a day that is not too humid to be outdoors. There is a schedule to follow to be driven up or walk up to the sanctuary.

This is an interesting place to visit. Took my grandchildren and they enjoy seeing the large birds being helped.

Wonderful way to spend the afternoon with the kids. Wander around and see the wide variety of birds they tend to and learn how we can help. Great place!

Everyone should visit this nationally renown Raptor Sanctuary. Originally I was referred to the Raptor Trust because my shingle shake house had become one woodpeckers domain! No one knew what to do to stop this fellow from rap tapping my house. Eventually a roofer referred me to the Raptor Trust. Unbelievably, they knew exactly what to do and provided an article to back up their advice. Their recommendation worked (apparently woodpeckers are very difficult to get rid of). The trust is knowledgeable of all birds...not just raptors.Visiting the Trust has taught me about the fragile nature of raptors. Children would love to visit for they are able to see different birds as well as raptor. Viewing the bald eagle was amazing. One just never sees these birds easily so the experience is unique. The owls and falcons are amazing. The only raptors they have are those that cannot be retuned to the wild because their injuries were too severe to recover from. This is a wonderful sanctuary worth a visit and if not able to visit it certainly is worth a donation.

Dedicated to saving injured Raptors and run totally by volunteers. Very quiet and calm place---good for families with children. You can get up close

Everyone should visit this place if they can. The Raptor Trust has a national reputation as being expert bird rehabiitators. The only birds they have there are the ones that could not be returned to the wild. They do great work and it gives you a wonderful opportunity to get up close to to some raptors like screech owls (adorable), barn owls, eagles, red tailed hawks, vultures, peregrine falcons.... They also have a nice gift shop. GO!
