My family goes to the Marriott every year as an annual getaway. Always go for a massage at the spa. They do a good job at the spa and I always enjoy the massage.
No, this is not a high end spa. You will not get a fluffy robe or locker room etc you undress in the room in which your service is taking place. I have been here twice already for massages and have to say I was very happy with Emma. Note: she is heavy handed but she said so off the bat and encouraged me to indicate if I wanted her to ease up on the pressure. I had no difficulty scheduling my appointment and received a confirmation call the day before. I also didn't feel any pressure from the staff even though I was using a promotion. Overall, a great way to experience a little pampering. You don't get all the extras (although I was offered a drink) but in my opinion the price is a fair reflection of what you get.
I have been a repeat customer and love the botanical day spa. It is within a very nice hotel that has a pool and exercise room available to spa patrons. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. I look forward to my monthly appointments
I was debating whether to leave a review or not. I went to this spa twice. The first time, on a Groupon & the second at Regular Price. During my first visit, I thought perhaps it was an "off day." Unfortunately not. With that said, here's my review....The front desk needs quite a bit of improvement. After reading other reviews, I'm not the only client that had negative experiences and issues regarding my appointment date & time.Upon arriving for our appointments, usually we are offered a beverage. At least at every spa that I ever went to. When I wasn't offered one, I asked the receptionist if I could get a cup of coffee while I was waiting for my service. To my surprise, she told me to go to the Lobby and purchase a cup of coffee from the restaurant. At that point, after a few other issues, I asked to speak to the owner. I was informed that she wasn't available on Saturday and then they took me to the coffee machine in their hallway (Keurig), which IS supposedly for their clients. However, I only saw the staff using it!! My facial was just mediocre, if that. On to my massage. I was disappointed to find out that BOTH times, they did NOT have the Lavender Spa AVEDA Oil, since this is described as an AVEDA product spa. It was very disappointing since that is the only fragrance that I always use. So I used a different oil, which I wasn't thrilled about. At the end of my massage, when checking out, they tried to get me to join a membership package. Overall, if things were better, I may have considered it, but, I wasn't happy with my experience either time. Regardless of having to change elsewhere, and the amenities not 100%, I think the point of going to a spa is to be relaxed & pampered. With tons of spa's in the area, why settle?!?! Needless to say, I haven't returned. It's truly a shame. The spa looks nice. But run & managed poorly. How very disappointing!!!
I had an appointment for 2 pedicures with my mom. It was a surprise for her birthday. I made the appointment a few weeks in advance and the person on the other end even repeated the time and date back to me. Everything was set. Something told me to call today to confirm. Turns out they had me down 2 days later. I said that was wrong and that everything was even repeated back to me at the time I made the appointment. They were not able to accommodate me for that day as a wedding party was coming in that morning and the pedicurist could not stay past her scheduled time. The nice girl on the phone did try to accommodate different dates, but I was not able to use them as I have work and other obligations already planned. My appointment was for the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It is now Thursday. Where am I going to find a spa that will have an opening now? Beyond upset. Avoid this place!
I had a Groupon for a massage. The Massage Therapist was the worst I have ever had. I was rubbed down - not massaged. When the manager asked how the treatment was I told the truth - bad. The response was, "We have bad experiences with her but we are trying to teach her to be better." Although I realized I did not pay full price, I wasn't going to spend my hard earned money to repeat the experience. They then tried to sell me to become a member of the club so I can come every month! That wasn't happening - even after I was offered free upgrades. As an added comment, the facility is cramped and it is not wholly contained. You are sharing the bathroom and dressing facilities with hotel guests that are using the exercise room and pool. This does not lend itself to a relaxing, soothing and tranquil experience.
I have been here twice or three times (no Groupon). My last physical visit was about a year and a half ago. I always come with my girlfriend. It is a very small facility - no jacuzzis, lounging in plush robes, dim lights w magazines, or other amenities one expects at a spa. The showers and bathroom are dismal and are never properly stocked with both shampoo and conditioner. I do like that they let you use the pool for a while in the summer if you buy a service. Based on previous experiences, I would have given a 3. The massages thwmselves were good, and Aveda oils are just great. Based on today's experiences via phone, it goes down to a 1.5 (I'm being generous with a two). My 30th Birthday is next week. my mom, who lives in California surprised me with a Groupon deal for the spa, which would include a massage and facial. I was excited and called to book for the weekend after my birthday. Although it states on Groupon that they 'suggest' you make your visit at the same time, it's not just a suggestion. They require it, which can make scheduling more difficult. After finding an open slot, I mentioned I thought I had been there before (I wasn't sure if it was the same hotel/spa). Immediately, the woman said if I had been, I couldn't use the Groupon or would have to pay an extra 40. I explained it was a gift from someone who didn't know, and that I didn't want to pay for something that the other person wanted to be a gift. With tips, I would end up paying 70 for it. Basically, she said too bad. I called my mother and explained what happened and she agreed it was supposed to be a gift. However, before getting a refund, she decided to call and see if they would be generous enough to make an exception to their rule (Hilton Woodcliff Lake and other local spas do). The front desk girl yelled at my mother, a woman who has been in marketing/customer service management for twenty years, telling her there is no way they'd make an exception as they don't make any money off Groupons. So this girl is saying that the 1000+ services they have sold have been a loss to them? Right... We cancelled and booked a different Groupon and I will never go back. My girlfriend and I will be rejuvenating elsewhere - a place with less rude staff and better facilities.
I made an appointment several months in advance to have a wash and blow-dry at the spa on the day of a wedding I was attending while staying at the Marriott - I was pleasantly surprised that a hotel spa offered hair services - I marked the day and time on my calendar - I called 4 days prior to confirm the reservation, at which time I was informed that I was on a "waiting list" for hair services - I had never been informed that I was on a waiting list and I was under the impression that I had a 4pm appointment - only after I called to confirm was I informed that they did not have a stylist available to do my hair - I was never told that they operated that way (the "wait list" for available stylists) and I am 100% certain nobody from the salon would have called me to say they did not have a stylist for me - I would have shown up 4pm the day of the wedding and sent away - as it was when I called to confirm and the manager realized she had made a mistake in not letting me know they did not have a stylist for my hair, she had a receptionist call and apologize for any inconvenience - if you are a spa in a hotel and can't accomodate hotel guests or do not offer the services they want, just be upfront about it and when you screw up, call and let them know what is going on.
When you think hotel spa with pool you vision locker room, sauna, steam, changing facilities and other amenities. What a let down. There is none of that. Yes there is a pool full of kids taking swim lessons who then go in to the bathroom to shower where you are. That is the spa. It has a tiny shower 2 bathroom stalls and maybe 6 tiny lockers. Awful. The massage however was good. I would never go back.
Ask Botanical Spa about their Massage Subscription Plan - it is the main reason my wife and I stay at the Park Ridge Marriott. We figured we will always get massages on a frequent basis anyway, why not do it in an easy and affordable way? I like deep-tissue massages and the folks at Botanical have never let me down...
I booked a sports massage the day after running a marathon. Urszula (from Poland) was FANTASTIC. Very aware of post-marathon muscle soreness issues. Very engaged to ensure the pressure was right. A great experience.
